Great resort. Was there over the weekend for the 2018 cross country snowmobile race. Cabin was clean and in great condition. Slopes were awesome for sleds, not sure about skiing tho.

Timberline is a beautiful mountain with very long trails, including the easier trails to make them more challenging and fun. It was a nice mix of skiing the black diamond trails and the lengthy green and blue trails for more variation. Mountain trails were also not crowded and lift lines were not long. Would definitely recommend this ski resort to a friend! Everyone was very pleasant, friendly, and helpful.

The accommodations and facilities were fair. It was my first time at a ski resort but it was not bad. The rentals we got seemed to be well maintained and up to date so I didn't feel a lack of quality. The actual ski resort and slopes were fantastic. Had a great time skiing although no triple black diamonds if you care about that. Really loved skiing there and the whole operation and staff ran smoothly. Everyone seemed well trained and friendly. My only complaint was that the food is very basic and leaves much to be desired including the prices. The cafeteria also seemed a bit messy and crowded which was not relaxing after a long day on the slopes. The bar was great though and had a decent selection. Overall a great time and would return.

This place is just so poorly managed, it took us over 1 and half hours from buying our tickets and getting our rentals. The computers at the ticket office must be the same old computers they've had since the 1990s. I had to show a screen shot on my phone for them to honor their advertised discount on their own web site. And at the rental area , there was 1 person manning the boots and 2 people handling the ski/board rentals during their busy 9-10am rush. I enrolled my 4 year old into their children's program but that was under staffed as well. She ended up quitting half way into the 5 hour program. Oh well, there goes $140. Just tragically unprofessional.
The trails were pretty good. I did enjoy their salamander along with their new twister trail. But the stress one has to endure to getting past the ticketing and rental makes it not worth coming here. Next time I'm skipping this place and driving on over to Canaan.response / report this review -

Stayed at 711 Mountainside Road, beautiful view. Hot tub was amazing. Great place for family or a group of friends. Hit the slopes, lots of different options with all of the levels of experience. Board/shoe rental places in town were much cheaper than the resort offered. This was my first snowboarding experience but I highly recommend and would come back again.

A review for the lift during NO SNOW: We were there last October during peak leaf season. WOW! This was a great deal for an amazing experience. Plan a trip to see the Autumn colors in Canaan--you won't be disappointed. This lift ride was the highlight of the week!

Absolutely horrible company, let me tell you why. Also note, WE PAYED IN FULL IN ADVANCE.
Day one of our vacation was a Thursday. Check in at 3pm. We arrive to find that our 8 bedroom that sleeps 24 had a broken well. Zero water in the entire home. We had 20 guests arriving that night and the next morning to celebrate a huge birthday party for my grandfather. We called the emergency number and they said they would send a plumber. Nope, they sent an HVAC guy who immediately said he couldn't help.
(meanwhile, the neighbors were out of town so these awful unprofessional people unlocked the HOME of NON RENTAL PROPERTY to let us use their bathroom. We were careful and clean but I would be livid if this company let strangers into my home. The second house we stayed in was also for sale and had been staged. )
They found us a small house with 4 beds to sleep in that night by 9pm. I had driven 13 hours with a toddler. We were exhausted. Additionally, we had already filled both refrigerators with food and our luggage. So we had to unpack and then put it all in the smaller house so we could make dinner. The food was perishable.
At this point, Timberlines complete unhelpfulness told us our only option was to take the small 4 bedroom house or go home. This house couldn't support 4 cars, let alone the 13 that were coming. They told us they had NO homes that had enough space for us.
The next morning we go to the rental office 9am, when they open. They're all just laughing and carrying on like their tenants weren't suffering. They say they're sending the plumber out to be there at 10am. We have to leave the 4 bedroom, go back to the waterless house and wait. Unpacked pur perishables into this house again. Of course, our plans of waking up and seeing Dolly Sods and other attractions didn't happen because 10:30 rolls around and WE CALL back timberline to find it'll be 12:00 before the plumber arrives. Oh great, more time in a house with no water and no bathrooms just waiting around.
They call around 11:15am and say "we just found an alternative house, come grab the keys, check it out and let us know if that works for you." I very clearly ask, "we will not have to pay the difference, correct?" and she says that while its a much nicer house, we will not pay the difference.
So driving back and forth so many times down horribly kept roads, i took pictures. Blowing gas, we go check out this place. It's perfect. The "we have no houses that size" excuse quickly became evident they were lying. Lying because it was a much nicer house. See my aunt used to work for themthey're supposed to go check EVERYTHING the day of to ensure its working. They're supposed to wait around for the plumber. They're supposed to find us a replacement home. Not us.
With our little reception we manage to get a text to the waterless house and tell them to pack! AGAIN. We stop off at Timberline to confirm and they say "oh no i meant that if the plumber can't fix the other (waterless) house" or i like to call the wasp invested bug hotel.
So back there i finally speak with the plumber who says it'll take at least 24 hours to fix. All what we ALREADY knew because we saw inside the tanks and they were empty, so even with a quick fix the time it would take to refill would be forever. Something they should have known.
Finally they say move into the nicer, big enough house that they were keeping secret. Our vacation didnt start until late Friday evening and our check out was a hard 10am Sunday.
Refund? Credit? Apologies? Yep, $149 refund when half our vacation was STRESS STRESS AND WAITING. We paid over $2,500 up front. These people are the most unprofessional garbage I've ever met. My whole family is from the area and we used them because they could find us a house big enough for our celebration.

Pretty good variety of trails open even though it was like 50 degrees Fahrenheit outside. The food from the lodge was also surprisingly cheap!
Stay away when they're blowing snow. The machines make it impossible to see as you're coming down the runs and you end up covered in ice very quickly.response / report this review -

The main lodge is pretty run down and the cafeteria wasn't appealing at all. But, it's a ski place so it gets a minimum of three stars simply because I love to ski.
The ski school did a great job with my daughter. If there were a separate rating for that I'd give it a 4 or 5 star rating. She enrolled in the all day mountain academy and her instructor was patient with her without giving her easy excuses to avoid things that were tricky or hard for her to learn (such as getting up when you fall down).response / report this review -

Great service and slopes! Conditions always seem to be enjoyable. However the prices are double a nearby resort, Canaan Valley, which is an equally nice if not better resort. Timberline does have street cred though, as it is an ancient place. The buildings and lifts are somewhat outdated.
