Had a bit of an odd experience at this restaurant yesterday. My friend and I went for lunch and she ordered the pastrami sandwich, but asked for a different cheese because she doesn't like swiss. She was told there are no substitutions and the chef is very particular about the menu because a lot of thought goes into it. It's a sandwich, people. Seems pretty easy to just slap a different type of cheese on it to please your customer, but whatever. Apparently great chefs are moody. Her sandwich arrived and the pastrami was gristly, so the chef isn't quite as particular about the ingredients. There was also just a dot of mustard on the plate that I guess she was supposed to use for the entire sandwich but it wasn't nearly enough and she had to ask for more (either the chef isn't so touchy about giving more mustard or it was snuck out of the kitchen without being noticed). I ordered the turkey apple brie sandwich, which was fine except that it was glued to the plate by some sticky substance, which made my hands sticky and was rather unpleasant. Finger food shouldn't be glued to the plate with sticky stuff unless the restaurant provides finger bowls. Oh, and the carefully planned sandwiches were served with potato chips on the side. Classy.

The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because the server was very nice and she also recommended wines that we really enjoyed.

Great spot. Very gracious service, desserts were special, nothing like their 606 ice cream with dark chocolate and cherries.

Even though restaurant is small, the environment was quaint. The service from Jason was GREAT, professional, attentive, and friendly. The recommended wine was stellar, the food DELICIOUS, and the price not as much as some other fine dining in Harford County. DEFINITELY want to and WILL return again! GREAT Date night whether married or single. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

I'll start by saying I used to like this place. However, sometimes they do things that irritate me and this has built up over time. For example, it was a 78 degree F day the other weekend and we are walking around with the dog and looking for some place to eat. They have a table out front and outdoor seating in the back as well. Great right?! No! I was told the table and chairs out front are "for decoration only". Okay.well, what about the seats out back? No! The back area closes at the end of September. I wouldn't have even written this review if not for the attitude I got. He acted like I should have known this and how dare I have a dog. Luckily, Tidewater lets you bring dogs and 'Gasp!' they opened up their outdoor seating! I don't know how they did this in mid October? It probably took an executive order. Either way, Tidewater was packed and the wine bar had 2 people. That says something. Also, don't expect an even halfway decent beer selection here. I posted a pic of the "decorate table and chairs" fyi.

Lovely intimate neighborhood spot! Interesting foodie menu and an OMG wine list. Crab and corn chowder is delish! Turkey Apple Brie flatbread was perfect! Server Brandi was wonderful: friendly attentive and genuine.
