Jim has great knowledge and experience with swim coaching and is phenomenal with the kids. Highly recommend for swim lessons!
We have done the parent and tot class two years in a row. Coach Jim makes you feel very comfortable handing over your child in the pool. He explains what you are doing and why and what you are trying accomplish.
My grandson, has been taking lessons with Coach Jim for a few years and I have been absolutely pleased with the results. He loves and admires Coach Jim and is progressing so well. He is doing different swim techniques and thoroughly enjoys it! Coach Jim knows how to work with children of all ages and does an outstanding job! I recommend him all the time to friends or anyone who asks about swim lessons for their children!
My oldest who is soon to turn six had swim lessons with Coach Jim last night. She has taken lessons in the past with his other staff, but Coach Jim is so wonderful. She is usually shy, but his dynamic personality kept her attention, and she was not hesitant at all. Actually she was smiling the whole time. He had control of the class and they were moving the entire time. He is able to positively correct technique keeping your child focused and motivated. Wonderful experience.
Our first season with The Swim Lessons Company was great. The instructor we had, Coach Johnny, was great with our son. The following season, Coach Johnny wasn't available so we signed up for a class with Coach Jim. He's the owner so we expected great things. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. Although a small class size, Coach Jim never had control of the kids. Many times he was running behind so our class would start late. At the end of the season, we didn't feel like our son was any better off than where he started - and he was one of the ones in the class who actually listened. To be a good swim teacher, you have to be able to wrangle kids also and keep their attention. Coach Jim really needed to have another teacher in the pool with him to assist. Additionally, Coach Jim had shoulder surgery mid-season and continued to "attempt" to teach classes, not offering any kind of a refund. Those classes were even worse. Lastly, many times we found Coach Jim to be quite unprofessional. I would definitely look at somewhere else for future swim seasons.
My son began swim Lessons when he was a year old. Coach Jim and Coach Heather were absolutely amazing with him. The small classes allowed for one on one attention. My son with in the parent and child class. Coach Jim and Heather built a relationship with each child to make them feel comfortable in the water. They also gave the parents tips on how to help the children in the water as well. This was extremely comforting as a parent.
Jim has been teaching our daughter to swim for almost two years now. His program is far better than the YMCA where she used to take lessons. He's very good with the kids, keeps them focused and learning all while having fun. We get feedback on her progress and will continue to keep her with the program and coach she loves. Would highly recommend to anyone seeking swim lessons for their kids.
