This place is certainly worth a try if you’re visiting Santa Fe. I waited more than an hour for a table in an April weekend, so reservations are a good idea. Although the courtyard out front is a really nice place to sit and wait if you must.
The salsa leans toward the sweet side but was a nice start. The pork and red chili tamale was excellent and the chicken and tomatillo tamale was great as well, albeit a bit on the dry side. Menu said tamales came with your choice of red or green chili, I was offered neither. Taco plate was excellent too, although these were definitely fork and knife tacos, not ones you eat with your hands.
Very satisfied with the food, well worth the wait. Nice selection of margaritas too, and the service was quite attentive for how busy the restaurant was.

The Shed Restaurant is the Best restaurant to experience true New Mexican food, it's not Mexican food (mole and Baja beach foods). The menu has classic red or green chile entrees. There is also hamburgers, soups, salads, steak, shrimp plates and delicious desserts. The Margaritas and Sangria drinks are incredible. They don't take reservations for lunch, so show up at or before 11a.m. when they open the doors. It gets busy but it's so worth the wait or call for dinner reservations to ensure that you get to enjoy a memorable experience.

Great service and atmosphere. Pretty busy for a Wednesday night. Had to wait an hour for two for dinner. Vegetarian and gluten free options available. The Chile fudge sundae is super spicy! Be warned!

Great food. Great setting especially in the court yard. They've so many reviews for a reason. I've the pork enchiladas, spicy! The dinning area is full of people. Definitely check this joint out.

Great food and a fun atmosphere! Margaritas were top notch. The red chile they top entrees with is HOT, but I loved it! Only complaint is you have to pay for chips and salsa. But overall great Southwestern Mexican food.

Had the appetizers grilled shrimp with a side of Spanish rice as my main course. Best shrimp I think I've ever had. My only disappointment was they had no prickly pear to make my margarita. We live in the southeast and have eaten there nearly every time we've visited Santa Fenever disappointed in our food selections.

This has been one of my favorite places on earth. We have even made special trips to Santa Fe to eat here. Food /red chili off the chart!!! However.hostess at the front desk very rude and condescending. It's not like she was the one that invented the red chili they are famous for. But I will still keep coming back for the food. Staff comes and goes, but NM red chili here to stay!!!

Great restaurant in a historic building. Very good New Mexico style Mexican food. Full bar. Green and red Chile sauces are spicy and delicious. Good sandwiches and salads too. Good soup. Love the desserts too. Just 1/2 block from the Plaza.

Great place, worthy of the hype. Great food and great environment. Just a heads up, you will pay $8 for a for a delicious chips guac and salsa as an appetizer whether you ask or not.

Came for lunch, seated immediately though it was crowded. Service was about twice as slow as standard. Ordered the shed Burger. Asked for medium got well done. Burger and bun were cool. Shed Burger is supposed to come with chilies. There were none. Unsalted chips came without salsa. Burger was dry and served without condiments. Not terrible but no reason to dine here again.

Overrated food. Watery. "Famous" cream of mushroom soup is totally watered down. Salads were very good though.

The atmosphere and decor were excellent classic Santa Fe.

For much better food, service, value and overall experience go to La Plazuela -- at the La Fonda hotel (just a block away!)

Yes it's touristy it is a nice atmosphere but, having to pay extra to have meat in your enchiladas just seems odd! The costs was already $15 & meat would be extra?!? and I've never had to pay for chips & salsa and the chips were cold and stale! We just got up and left! We left the waiter a tip and just left! Glad we did we paid half the price at another place and enjoyed it!
