Great place for families or just yourself. Very well maintained exhibits, good staff. Enjoy the animals and the learning experience. Join the zoo membership. The cost is only a little more than your ticket and you will want to go back. If you're like me, you'll go back more than once.

Amazing went for the wild lights. So much fun! The cheetah chat was great I learned so much! The place was beautiful. The animals are kept very well and appear healthy. Cant wait to go back!!

Nice place to visit with kids. The animals are varied and the different shows are fun to see. It is expensive though for one visit. Perhaps the annual pass makes it worth going more frequently. Everything inside also costs more money. Want to ride the shuttle? $6 per person. Nothing is included in the entrance fee. The botanical gardens were pretty much the same thing you would see if you walked through the valley benches.

The living desert night time light show was great! Its an easy walk through the zoo with lots of holiday lighting that takes about 1-2hours on the size of your group. Most of the animals could be seen while some we're hiding/sleeping. It's fun for all ages and easy to walk with a stroller. Parking is ample but I recommend getting there before 6pm as the lot does fill up. The line just to get into the parking lot can take 20-30mins if you arrive later in the evening. The path through the zoo is a mix of cement and dirt. I highly recommend this for people in the Palm Desert area.

An excellent zoo. Great gardens, walking trail, feed the giraffes, and excellent service all around. The staff was always friendly and always helpful. They also had a miniature train set. Being from San Diego and having a great zoo as well, the Living Desert Zoo Was Just As nice. It was great feeding the giraffes and to be so close to them. Overall I definitely would recommend this zoo to anyone visiting this area. If you go during the summer just be prepared for the heat.

My family and I love this place! Lots of desert animals, from reptiles to cheetahs. Plenty to look at, learn and experience. We like to feed the giraffes the most. Snack bars, trolly, gift shops, plant nursery and a learning center. Kids area and a merry-go-round. Bring your wallets though because nothing is cheap.

One thing u will notice right away is no Stink no Stench no Smell of animal droppings. The Zoo has big enclosures and staff to clean and the desert dries off the excrements. All the zoos we been to is Stinky to Smelly. This zoo u can breath the fresh air and enjoy the nice gardens and even has hiking trails inside. Good work zoo staffs.

This zoo is so much fun. I felt like it was well staffed with we encountered so many helpful people. The employees/volunteers seemed happy to be there and the enthusiasm they have for the animals showed. I highly suggest taking a visit here.

Staff is friendly and welcoming, ready to answer any questions or even show you some of their favorite animals and places. The animals are very up close for great views. The giraffe feeding and just looking at them too was definitely the highlight of this place. Make sure to explore Eagle Canyon as there are many animals in a shaded and nice area. The zoo itself is very clean and there are plenty of animals to look at!

As a member, I got in one hour before the public. Most members use this time to power walk. I prefer to take my time and enjoy the animals while they are still moving around before the hot August midday sends them all looking for cover. Employees comb the grounds, looking for anyone in trouble from the heat. Cold water/hydrating fluid vending machines are strategically placed throughout the trails.
I wished they had more than just one misting station for humans, there are plenty in the enclosures for the animals.
I always find some intriguing aspect of nature going on.response / report this review -

Nice zoo. Lots of walking which in the heat can be killer for kids. Some of the exhibits close for the hot super season. Feeding the giraffe is a fun experience. I would recommend it.

When the hubs and I went 17 years ago we loved it and vowed that if we ever had kids we wanted to bring them here. 5 kids later we brought them today and loved it. The animals looked happy, perky and healthy. The grounds are clean and well maintained. The volunteers are friendly and informative. They do an excellent job of bringing plants and animals from around the world to Palm Desert. Loved it. If you go in the summer, make an effort to arrive at 8am. It's cooler and you'll appreciate the extra hour to explore.

Fun outing with family. Feeding the giraffes was the best part by far. The discovery center is a great place to take a break and cool down during the heat of the day. Some animals aren't here the entire year so call before going to check.

Family friendly . Membership fee & daily good prices, as it's a non-profit. Too many attraction fees after paying admittion . Feed animals, ride camels , & go in with butterflies . Our funding helps maintain park & bring new animals . Needs better food options & lower merchandise pricing for locals. Lots of walking . Would highly recommend .

I've been to Palm Springs before but never to this zoo. It's a must-see for a reason. I love how low key it is. The volunteers walk the lizards through the pathways! So cute to see. Most of the animals seem like they have ample space but some of the small cats look so cramped. 😔 Great display of desert animals from Africa and North America. Great for people to learn about how cool Desert animals actually are
