While I love the funky decor and positive attitude of the staff, this place gets all 5 stars because the food is simply perfect. The hardest part of visiting is pouring over their exquisite menu of offerings and trying to decide what to get -- you'll want it all. Every single thing I've ever ordered (breakfast and lunch) was one of the best things I've ever had. They do not skimp on the spices and sauces. Every time I visit the Cambridge area, I make sure I swing by for at least one meal.
One word of warning though, the place is so popular sometimes there's a long wait to seating. You can find them online and secure a good spot the the seating queue head of time -- make sure to do this during peak times (esp. breakfast!).
We loved The Friendly Toast. Wonderful warm and efficient service and the food was hot, tasty, homemade and oh so generous. You really won't get better Breakfast or Brunch anywhere in the Cambridge/Kendall Square area. Limitless coffee, super juices. V family friendly. If you go at the weekend expect to get there early or expect a wait.
I’ve been going to the friendly toast for over 10 years and it is always good. Great menu for all three meals of the day. Great for groups and especially for brunch. Their staff is awesome too! I recommend using the wait in line app if you plan on going their for weekend brunch, it holds your place in a ‘digital’ line so you can hang out at him until you need to head to the toast to be seated!
We were able to use the no wait app to make our reservation which was great. The brunch cocktails were good, definitely going to try the flight next time. I got the potato skillet with poached eggs - they don't lie, it is literally a plate of potatoes. They were tasty, but the taco after party was a little better.
Went Sunday for brunch luckily had a reservation as when we arrived we heard the wait was two hours without! Very noisy!! Food was really good. Home fries and cheese grits so good. My husband had an omelet filled w bacon and sausage he loved it, they cooked the meat crispy, my sis had French toast she also enjoyed. Really great food, service was aight. Front desk guy super friendly though. Coffee is typical American style: weak and tasteless. Would go back to eat again for sure.
Really good breakfast burrito. Enormous, so worth the price (so enormous I couldn't eat with my hands). Once I ate it around 9am, I didn't get hungry until 8pm. Great service too, really friendly!! Someone had recommended that place to me and that person was right to do so.
Come hungry, leave satisfied. The food takes a while (no more than any other cooked to order place), but it's more than worth it. I have some favorites on the menu (delicious pancakes, savory scrambles), and there are amazing sandwiches and burgers. The specials are always enticing, and as a dad and lover of dad jokes, the names of the dishes do not disappoint. I love this place and make a point of bringing visitors here.
I've been here dozens of times over the years, and I love it. They are usually very busy, so it's good to give yourself some buffer time or go on an off-hour. Their portions are big, their service is good, and their food is excellent. I like the "New Hampshire's Finest" scramble. The bloody Mary's and mimosas are great. Definitely worth trying.
Great options whether you want breakfast, want meat or don't want meat. Cute area with outdoor seating. Prices are affordable. Try the mimosa flight!
I've been to the Friendly Toast plenty of times - the service and food is always great. When you get breakfast all day you really can't complain. The best thing about their brunch/breakfast is the mimosa flight. Excellent basic mimosa, and interesting rotating specials.
While the menu is slightly overwhelming, everything is delcious! You can't really going wrong just picking at random. The drinks are also excellent - highly recommend the War & Peace. Plus the vibes are super fun :)
Interesting food and art. Fun and good place to eat. Breakfast all day.. Expect lines for weekend brunch. Good place for before or after a movie.
Great breakfast/brunch location for some friends. It is a special place to go because it would not fit the college-student budget. The 60's feel of the place made it a fun time looking at all the decor while waiting for the food. The food was very simple but the flavors were great. I had the Chicken and Waffles and it did not disappoint my taste buds.
