Really awesome store with a great selection of games, game systems, music, movies etc. My go-to place for all things entertainment. Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Anything they don't have they'll check at their other stores and have it shipped their for you for free.

I've been going to The Exchange for over 20 years now. I remember when this particular location was across the street closer to the mall. Maybe, it's the nostalgic side of me, but this place has lost a lot of luster for me over the years. I remember when trades were actually fair and made you want to come back and not hesitate to trade some more. Now? You barely get anything. And, not just on older stuff, but newer stuff as well.

And I get it. Times change and to stay competitive you have to change out of necessity, but when you trade in an item and see it displayed for damn near 3 to 4 times what you got for it? That to me is just being greedy.

I remember when you could negotiate a little. Say you were looking forward to getting a newer game. I've been to multiple locations that would up your trade value if it was reasonable. Now? There's no budge, no sympathy or kindness.

Again, I get it. Times do change and the employees can only do what they are allowed to do. So, I know it's not their faults, BUT! A thing I started experiencing at a few locations is this Clerks like attitude. Where the costumers are the inconvenience to the employees. I remember a instance where I literally stood there waiting for my trade to be called, but they were in the middle of what formats were better on DVD to worry about it. When I asked what the status of my trade is was? The one huffed, looked at me and told me that they're still working on it. This was pass the 15 minutes they told me it would take. As a matter of fact it was around 25 when I finally caved in to ask about it.

The shame of it all is it can still be a great place. The huge positive is the set up. The displays are always well kept and organized. I find myself going inside just to check out all the vintage toys, games and memorabilia, but the one thing that is always constant with me when I walk out and that's when I do? It's empty handed. And, it's pretty much because I am educated on what items I am looking for. When I know I can get it cheaper somewhere else? I am going to get it there. Recent example would be the new Hitman game for PS4. Keep in mind I had zero intentions on getting it at The Exchange, but when I just bought it brand new at a competitor for $29.99 and see it used for almost $40? That just tells me that the care is not there at all. If you're going to sell it for that price? It should at least be new. That I could understand. Smaller businesses have to to compete.

Lastly, and I kind of touched on it already. Is whoever is running this business? You need to understand that your costumers are well educated on the value of not only what items are worth, but on how much an item should go for too. I've been personally collecting music and movies for a good chunk of my life. I know what's a good value and what's not. You have to take the Internet in account. With sites like Amazon, Diabolik Dvd, Deep Discountetc. People will pay the extra as long as the service and price is fair. Also, you have to take in account social media. Facebook alone has constant feeds from distributors like Arrow, Criterion, Scream Factoryetc. Letting them know where they can get the best deals and when products will be available. You're target consumers know what's up and you should be able to appreciate that fact.

The reason I took the time to review this company is because I would much rather go to a physical location than online. I still believe there is hope for this to happen. You're still in business. Make it happen. You have the potential to do so.

i used to come here often before the remodel and it was a good 3 star place but last time i went about a year or 2 ago to CHECK an offer It took almost an hour and not alot of people were in the store. The people there looked like 2004 hot topic and were edgy and rude. also overpriced buybacks is better but the one over here is closed. even the bookstore by this place is a better deal on games smh

By and large one of the better retail chains catering to your oldschool game, music, and equipmemt needs. I have been here numerous times, picked up a number of rare and exceptionally good quality games for systems ranging from Atari 2600 to modern consoles. The staff has been friendly and courteous at all times, knowledgeable, and willing to look in other stores within their chain (even outside the state) to find games and other items of interest for you.

As for the detractors, it's the same as any other place that deals with movies or games. If you give them an overage of common games or movies that they may already have in stock and have to move (IE sell), you will not get much for them because of the costs involved with inventory and the fact that they are a larger chain with a lot of overhead. The price you get is relative to the items in question: if you want more cash, sell rarer items. It's that simple.
