My wife and I stayed at the Elms waterfront cottages this summer and as soon as we entered we were unhappy with the extremely poor construction of the unit, which was rickety and flimsy, and the stove had much dry spilled old food beside and under it, and since we decided to leave early, because the place was extremely overpriced, the owner was quite upset and very visibly avaricious. One of the beds had a broken post and the wheel had only been propped up to appear intact, when my wife was on it it fell on its side - she ended up sleeping on the futon.

When we left, immediately the email address we had given him began receiving hundreds of spam mails and we are certain that these people sold our email address to spammers to make up for their perceived loss of our stay. We also have since then begun receiving dozens of unsolicited catalogs and spam by USPS, and we also suspect The Elms as being the one selling our address for that.

We have never before been spammed like this.
We remember thinking that the main selling point of this place is the lake, and their website is very pretty and misleading. But know that if you stay here, you are at risk of having your information sold to spammers, and you will pay way too much for a very poor and dirty place to stay.

We are generally the kind of people who don’t give negative reviews, and won’t complain for things we know aren’t deliberate, but we do wish to warn others of this place, because the website it has can fool others like it did us.

If you might be needing lodging in the area, we suggest at Saratoga Springs the Gideon Putnam (where we ended up staying) is marvelous and much less expensive.

The proprietor is one of the kindest human beings I've ever met, striving to make each stay memorable and enjoyable. The Elms have a picturesque view of the River, and each cabin is well maintained and cared for.

The rooms are decent. The lake is pretty nice. They're many things things to do such as kayaking boating etc. The only problem is there is no service and the wifi doesn't connect well twords the entrace of the place; however there is a business station if some one wishes to work and get access to a computer wifi or a printer. It's a pretty decent place over all.

Literally perfect! The owner and staff were super friendly and accommodating from the very beginning. I was unsure of booking at first because you never know what to trust on the internet these days but it far exceeded expectations. The cabins/suites are beautiful in person.. very quaint. Literally waterfront .. you walk out your front door to a deck and then a private BBQ area and a beautiful lake with every amenity you could ever need. The kids didn't once ask for their phones or TV. We are going to making this spot an annual trip location for the family.

I stayed at a cottage, which are pretty clean but the bathroom is a stand up shower which the shower head is so old u wet the whole bathroom showering and the toilet is wobbly. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and attentive.use of free canoes is awesome. But cottages could use some updating..bring mosquito repellent lots of them after 6pm u get eaten alive.

This memorial day long weekend(2009) we spent our holidays @ elmscottages. One of the finest cottages located on the shore of Lake Luzerne. It was very peaceful. I should not forget to mention about Chandler(Owner) who guided us and was so patience in listening to all our questions and clarrified each and everything we needed. He was so down to earth and been there whenever needed.

In many places you will not see what you hear, but it was nothing less what Chandler explained it to us (100%).

With the cottage they have provided the rowboat and pedal boat rides free for as much time as you want to enjoy.

BTW, if you are going from NYC, then this is the best place to stop by to visit all Lake George and Lake Placid.

I will not be going to anyother places if am planning for a trip to Adirondack again !!
