It depends whose in the kitchen. This unique supper club has a big fireplace centrepiece, with high ceilings and an old bar. I have had some of the greatest meals here, and some of the worst. Depends whose cooking. Same in the bar. One night, the best Bacardi Cocktail and another night the bartender had no idea what I was ordering.

The restaurant was busy,s so when the hostess said it would be a 30-45 minutes we were willing to wait. However when people were getting seated before us and it had been 45 minutes we decided to inquire. The hostess was rude and snapped that it was because we did not call ahead. She may need to take a course on how to better deal with her customers. Once we were seated, we had to wait even longer for the waitress. She took our order which included drinks from the bar, appetizers and the main course. She brought the soup without any crackers. She brought the drinks later with an apology for taking so long. We were almost done with one of the appetizers when we had to reminder her that the other appetizer never came. She apologized for forgetting and was willing to go get it but we declined because we were ready for dinner. She told us the main entries were ready in the kitchen and she just needed to go get them. We are not sure where she went and wished we had the other appetizer to tide us over during our wait. She had far too many tables and customers to take care of properly. In fact the restaurant had too many tables in a small area and the noise was almost unbearable. We were unable to hear each other speak across the table. In addition to being overwhelmed by noise, the wait and buss staff had no where to walk so they kept accidentally bumping into the back of our chairs jolting our body as we were taking a drink. Our frustrations grew as we waited for our food and the tables next to us, which was seated after us, had been served and in mid meal by the time we got our food. The food quality was between good and excellent. The fish was good and the steak was cook just as requested. The carrot cake was fantastic and by far the best part of the entire experience.

Two weeks ago my husband and I along with three other couples ate dinner at Duck Inn on a Saturday night. I had called several weeks in advance to make a reservation. As I arrived, two young people were carrying into the dining room a long table and a shorter table. They placed it almost in front of the reception desk and the front door. Much to my horror, this was our table. While we had anticipated a wonderful evening, it was a major disappointment. We could barely hear the person sitting next to us - let alone someone across the table. I understand larger parties can be a challenge and had this been a last-minute reservation our location would have been understandable. In view of our advance preparation and Duck Inn’s lack of preparation, it will be difficult to return.

Awesome, unique food, first quality. Fine dining with wonderful duck, pheasant and goose dishes in addition to steak and seafood. Specializing in duck, they offer a half-dozen entrees featuring the water foul plus duck vegetable soup, always an excellent choice. Plenty of selection in the wine list and cocktails, first rate desserts.

Service was excellent. Quaint hunting-lodge decor that hasn't changed much in 40+ years, which I love. Fireplace. A bit pricey, but for this quality, in this location, worth it, imo, particularly for special occasions. Friday fish fries are more down-to-earth price-wise. I would rate 5 stars but for the fact they don't accept American Express.

Fabulous Duck. The atmosphere was wonderful. It was decked out for Christmas. I thought the food was fantastic and I'd dine here again. I've got to say my service was slow and if not for that it would be 5 stars. I asked why there was such a fantastic restaurant in the middle of nowhere -which is what it seems like when you're from out of state. The hostess said they're on the way to everywhere but in the middle of nowhere. I was thrilled to find it on the highway in the middle of nowhere. I hope to dine here again and will tell all my Midwestern friends and family.

Really delicious meal, atmosphere is bent towards those who enjoy by gone days - very relaxed and lodge style decorating.

Had a fabulous meal! The cheese and crackers (herb and cheddar, I think) we're delicious. The rolls were not just warm but pipping hot. Just cut one open and insert a butter pat and wait for it to melt. The homemade creamy garlic dressing was delicious! The broiled orange rough was the best I've had in a long time. The queen-cut prime rib was a generous portion and perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. The prices are more than I usually spend on a meal, but once in awhile it is nice to splurge. The interior felt homey in the sense it reminds me of my parents' and grandparents' homes. The taxidermy ducks, decoys, paneling, the wood trim on the windows, the stones the made the fireplace

Dinner was amazing. We made a reservation and would have loved to have been seated in the dining room and not the bar. Our waitress was very unwelcoming with no sense of humor at all. In my opinion if your customers are a bother to you, you are in the wrong business. At least our dinner was good. Probably will not return.

Such a darling place. The waitress was jovial, and friendly. The meals were tasty treasures, and the key lime pie really was a perfect end to a perfect meal.

We haven't been to Duck Inn in quite a while. We weren't disappointed. The prime rib "queen cut" was a generous portion. It was SO GOOD! Another diner had the 1/4 duck with the apple burgundy sauce.

Got there with a reservation at 6 pm. Waited 35 minutes for a table. Once sat we waited over 20 minutes for a server to even come to the table. It got worse from there. After 2.5 hours and still no entree we got our check and left. The manager was sub par at handling our complain with a generic "he has to look into the time table" reply. Never again. First and last visit. What we had of food was not even tasty, over priced and under whelming. Our server was also extremely rude to my mother in law who was treating us to dinner from out of state.
