The fried chicken is as good as they say; it's incredible. The fried shrimp, chicken fried chicken, and fish n' chips are also very good. The pot roast, while tasty, was an oddly small portion when compared to the similarly priced other entrees at our table, so that's worth noting.

I've had hit-or-miss luck with the side dishes. The mashed potatoes and fries are good. The brussel sprouts seemed frozen, the rutabaga (which I was really excited for!!) was overly pureed, watery, and oddly sweet, and the greens were a bit mushy. I will say that both soups I've gotten, cheesy tomato basil and creamy mushroom were both excellent. Like, notably awesome soups.

We'll be back for that chicken. I'll just likely stick to mashed potatoes and soup for sides :)

I had never been here (or even heard of it as I'm not a native Atlantan) but man was I in love with this place the minute I walked in. It's got "vintage" 70s decor (that doesn't feel so much a design choice but rather that it has just survived for so long without a remodel) and the food is delicious and southern. Eat here if you enjoy quality food and just drink in the atmosphere. Phenomenal.

Would not recommend this place. It's JUST OK. If you are not the best cook you might enjoy this. Our server Eric, waa THE BOMB, even has his own dessert on the menu. The vegetables left a lot to be desired, the pork tenderloin could have cooked a bit longer, squash casserole was too liquid, fried okra was cold, sweet potato casserole was too loose, green beans were not seasoned, the dressing lacked taste, and the trout was fishy. They've been been in business 80 yrs and I think that's long enough. But again Eric our waiter The Bomb!

We’ve been here twice and love the food. It’s old fashioned, southern home cooking with no frills. The portions are huge so we always share a plate. The fried chicken and sweet potato casserole are perfect. It’s a great Sunday lunch place. We were seated upon entry. We are going back today and I plan to try the Turkey and dressing.

It's Mama's Meat and three. This is one of the best diners in Atlanta. It's not the cheapest Diner in Atlanta just the best. Real Southerners go to places like this after church on Sunday. No phony-baloney Southern Fusion here. The wait staff is old-school, well-trained and they know the menu.

Good comfort food. Clientele is definitely on the elderly side. My biggest criticism is it's location. It's in a scary area of town. We we're approached by a panhandler as we were walking out the front door. Across the parking lot is an unsavory motel I wouldn't be surprised if you can rent rooms by the hour. As a female I would definitely not go there alone or with my kids without my husband and not after dark.

Best food I've eaten in some time. Everyone in my party enjoyed their food. The service was excellent and of course the basket of bread/muffins is legendary!! Great place to go on Sunday afternoon without the incredibly long wait!

This is the restaurant we come back to again and again especially when we have guests from out of town. It's been around for 90 years and is so very Atlanta to its heart. Great drinks. Casual atmosphere. Southern specialties. My favorite is to look at the daily specials where one finds something different and unique. From prime rib to fried/grilled fish, fried chicken to pork chops, pot roast to turkey - it's all wonderful. When we got married in April, this was the place we ate for our wedding dinner. No higher recommendation!

Established in 1917 (don't quote me on that), our friends who brought us here described it as "classic southern cooking - everything is friend". But don't let that scare you away. The food was EXCELLENT. Fried chicken; chicken fried chicken; fried seafood plate (scallops and shrimp earned rave reviews from my dinner companions), and the fish and chips was great too. Each meal comes with two sides, take your pick from an endless list. We went with Mac and Cheese (perfect for the picky child), onion rings (a little disappointing, didn't look like rings, more like deep fried onion strips), brussel sprouts (boiledblah), fruit plate (two slices of cantaloupe, one slice of pineapple and honeydew), sweet potato fries (also a kid favorite) and fried okra.

I had the fried chicken - the white meat was tender, with a little flavor, which was good. Bland white meat is a turnoff. The skin was crispy and full of flavor as well. Could not have been happier with my meal.

Atlanta institution! Fried chicken is amazing, side dishes are the greatest. Huge restaurant with a very old-school bar. Great service, but quality does not come quick. Be prepared for patience getting seated and getting food. Fortunately, the bar is accessible while you wait!

This is truly one of the best restaurants in Atlanta. It has a rep of being for the gays and grays. Toss that idea aside and go for the awesome food. You will be so glad you did.

This restaurant has come a long way in the quality and variety of food on the menu. It is still traditional southern cooking with some of the best fried chicken in Atlanta, but a lot items have a fresher take. The best place for comfort food in Atlanta. Favorites include the seafood platter and the pot roast.

Still one of the best, after all these years. I had the halibut pesto special last week and it was excellent. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Tonight I had a good old cheeseburger and still one of the best in town. Always a pleasure. Great pour in the bar, too. Worth the wait.
