First time staying here. I enjoyed it. I believe it's one of the last real cottages in the city. It is not modern by any means so do not stay here if anyone in your party is has high standards. They are old and simple cabins. I would stay again.

Been coming here for over 30 years, first with my parents, and now with my kids. The place shows its age, but I consider it part of the charm. The cabins have a kitchenette so you don't have to eat out every meal and they have a basic pool and hot tub. The place is definitely not fancy, but I don't come up north to stay at the hotel all day. I need a comfortable place to sleep and refresh and The Beach House has fit the bill for over 30 years.

The kindest man worked the front desk. The view was amazing and the privacy of the cabin was excellent. The cleaning was not great. You do get what you pay for. I did notice they changed the sheets but did not change the blanket. If you would like a relaxed area to stay in that isn't too crowed and private this is a great choice. Just bring your own blanket and plan to do some cleaning yourself. The shower water smelled rusty in one room we stayed in (we stayed in two different cabins) and I was hesitant to use the shower. In the other room we stayed in it was roomy. Not too dirty. If you are looking for a rustic cabin like experience this place is well worth the money. I would consider staying here again, but I would not bring my children.

I've stayed at The Beach House since I was a kid. I've been a couple times as an adult, but not since it's become under new ownership. I think that the new owner has done a good job with keeping the atmosphere consistent to what it used to be like, with homemade muffins and coffee in the morning. The cabins are clean and cozy, however they're in serious need of updated decor. Regardless, I plan to return for our next vacation.

I loved this place. It isn't the newest, but quaint little cottages right on the water. The staff was helpful and informative. The room clean and neat. The pool and spa were warm and nice. It brought other memories back to me.

Advertisement for rental was totally false. We could not access wifi in our room at all; breakfast was muffins - what kind of breakfast is muffins? Room was not clean, comforters didn't look like they had been washed in eons. Disgusting place, really! Very outdated, kitchen was just gross. No counter in the bathroom, hard to do anything when you don't have a place to put things down on. Chairs to sit in to watch TV were dirty and very uncomfortable and the bed was horrible. We left one day early because of all this, but did not receive a refund. Manager had a awful attitude and was a drama queen. Whined constantly about working 24/7. Said the people who cleaned the place didn't even speak English and didn't know how to clean!!! Said one was from China and the other from Romania. Said he couldn't teach them how to clean because of the language barrier. Not sure why this place gets such great reviews, that is just so hard for me to believe. We were not happy there at all. Do not book at this place!!!

DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!! This was the grossest hotel i have ever seen. $160 a night got you 2 dirty beds, a sticky table, dirty floors and peeling wallpaper. Thats when you notice the smell. This place was so gross. I went to get a refund and they refuse to give you your money back. The guy at the counter said sorry there is nothing i can do. He also told me that he had been dealing with unhappy customers most of the day and had no idea of the condition of his hotel. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT BOOK HERE!!

Nice place, but they are disorganized with reservations. They book people in beach front rooms and then switch them if they overbook. It is a nice, quiet and clean place. The on-site staff do everything they can to make the stay enjoyable. They also supply free ice which is super convenient.

Stayed one night as we were traveling through the U.P. Arrived and owner stated that we had one bed for 3 people. My two sons and myself. Not going to work out. He quickly adjusted cabins and we were all set for a cabin on the beach. The cabins are old, "rustic" and in serious need of some updating. Pretty they ain't! However, they are clean and comfortable. For one night our cabin worked out just fine. The beds were comfortable. There is only a window style air c. unit in the cabins. No furnace. The owner warned us it might get cold in our room. Probably not a good idea to have us freezing, was a thought that ran through my head. However(again), the window style unit when pushed up to 80 warmed out room perfectly. We warmed it up and it was perfect all night. It was on a timer and shut off in the middle of the night. We woke up very cold, but once we turned it on again, warmed up nicely. Breakfast is served buffet style at the water park hotel next door. We were surprised, as we only expected muffins and coffee. The breakfast was just okay, nothing great at all. It fed us (scrambled eggs, muffins, biscuits/gravy, waffles and beverages). However, I think the owner should talk to the mgmt. at the waterpark. If he is paying for his customers to eat there, he should be having some control over the area. It was very dirty. Windows dirty, window tracks dirty/dead flies, every single table dirty when we got here and only 4 guests in the breakfast room, food tables needed to be wiped down,etc. I was not impressed at all. We were pleased to eat a bit and hit the road. In all, really, there are a lot of good things to staying here. Cleanliness (of the rooms, convenience of location, beautiful view and breakfast included.) Hopefully the new owner will invest in upgrading the property and he'll have a real gem on his hands.

DON'T BOOK IT! Especially through any other website besides directly with them. Even though its CLEARLY stated that there would be no cancellation fee up to 14 days prior to arrival, I was charged a fee. I had cancelled 4 Months before arrival. After speaking with the property owner, they would not honor the policy stated. Poor customer service, THANKFUL we will not be staying there if this is how they treat customers.
