I had friends that stayed there and got very sick. There was dried blood on their sheets when they got their room. They checked in late and didn't take the time to look at the clean sheets before they laid in them. They don't put clean sheets on after every stay. Person at the front counter was very rude and could not speak English very good. She claims she's a registered nurse but yet has no idea what dry blood looks like. I definitely would not recommend staying at this place unless you want to get very sick.

AVOID this motel (and the motels on either side of this one- they are managed by the same people) at all costs!! Management is flat out rude and disrespectful. My family had reservations months in advance and they had no record of this. We were still able to get rooms, but the lady in the main office gave us nothing but attitude through the whole process. At one point we had the electricity in our room go out after we plugged in a coffee maker. When calling the office, you could hear a lady in the background say "Ugh, what did she plug in that she wasn't supposed to?" Rooms were outdated (to be expected) and weren't the cleanest. Major bug/cobweb buildup outside of the room door and all over the balcony. Many of the lights outside of the room doors were burned out which made it difficult to see at night. Great view of the bridge, but you can't even enjoy it due to the lack of outdoor furniture. The furniture that was out was super dirty. But even more concerning was the incredible amount of FECES that covered the entire beach. It was flat out disgusting and it made the beach completely unusable. On the Sunday (the day before Labor Day) of our stay, the landscaping company showed up which blew all the feces onto the balconies. GROSS. Why didn't management have the landscaping company come BEFORE the rush of a major holiday weekend?!? Staff keeps the linens, yes the sheets you sleep on, outside in the breezeway. The carts are covered by a sheet. One morning I came out and found that the wind blew off the sheet covering the linens exposing everything to the outdoors (i.e. rain, morning dew, feces, animals, etc.). The pool/spa look like they haven't been cleaned all summer and the pool water is colder than the lake water- it was unbearable. I understand trying to save money when you go on vacation, but trust me, it is worth spending a little more at another motel/hotel. You can't even relax at this place after spending a long day in town or on the island. This place is disappointing and disgusting.

Me and my boyfriend have been staying here for the last 3 years, going twice a year. The place was great in the past.. Just got back from our vacation and we had booked a room for 3 nights, the room was not clean, spiders/webs were everywhere outside making it very to get in and out of our room. The swings were broken and leaning against another property that they own. There were 4 lawn chairs out by the beach. You couldn't even walk down to the beach because of all the duck and see gulls droppings. The whole outside of the motel was covered in dead bugs. (wish I would have taken pictures to post) The front desk women was so rude. She acted like we were a disturbance to her. The pool was ice cold. The ice machine was so disgusting on the outside we went and bought our own ice. I would not recommend this motel to anyone. Yes the view is spectacular. We will never stay here again. Met many dissatisfied quests as well. One couple had been going for 10 years and they were disgusted at the place they had to move to several different rooms. They left the next day. We found out that the place was purchased by some guy that is buying up all the small motels. Sunrise also is affiliated with the one motel south of them and 2 motels north of them. We checked around and found a couple of motels that are still owned by private individual that is onsite at all times. We already know where we are going to stay for our next vacation in the spring. I would give Sunrise a zero if I could.

Im not disagreeing with any of the other comments on here, but I had a good experience. Yes, it is true that the front desk is not as "friendly" as a 5 star hotel, but this is a motel so this is expected But, she was friendly enough and responded to my needs promptly. I did not try to cancel or get my money back, so I don't know much about that scenarios
The motel is located right in front of the water, I was also able to view the bridge from the motel, which was lovely! They also had a picnic table and swings which was very nice to spend time with family. My room was clean and neat. All appliances worked fine.
I gave this a 4-star because the shower head was not working properly (water went everywhere), but water still came from it. Plus, breakfast was very weak, only toast and oatmeal with juice/coffee. I would stay here again, after all, you get what you pay for and for the price this place was good enough for me!response / report this review -

Please read before booking a room here! Booked a reservation online, as we are driving the lady at the front desk calls and tells me there was no space but could put us in the cabin next to it then calls back to get my credit card info and gets attitude asking me when I'd be there.. rooms smelled musty and shower water smells like ROTTEN EGGS! Great way to feel clean. When I ask for a refund for the next night we were suppose to stay, she flat out says no. I tell her we were not comfortable and she crosses her arms and does not care what I have to say. Pool water was freezing!!! And hot tub wasn't bad but when jets run, surprise! Smells like eggs! Breakfast consisted of only bread food and watered down juice and burnt coffee. Don't waste your money there!!! I paid $300 and we only stayed one night instead of two. Not cool

Room was clean, view was amazing! Staff was polite and helpful Only down fall would be that you have to travel a half mile up the road to a different location for the free continental breakfast :/ all else was nice.

The rooms are very clean, big indoor-outdoor pool and an indoor spa, lots of beachfront that we got to walk, they supplied the first round of firewood and then even gave us some extra later when we asked! they were very accomadating and all of the staff were very smiley and friendly and gave us a very good deal. My sister and I have stayed here many times on our way to the UP. The rooms are neat and clean, there is a complimentary mini breakfast and the views from the room of the bridge are great. The Motel is a 1/4 mile out of downtown, so it has a much quieter "up north" feel.

What a great view our room had. We could see the bridge and the island completely from our balcony. They were friendly and reasonably priced. They offered fire wood for bonfires at night. As for the rooms, they were decently sized with a small shower bathroom The pool had lots of spiders and was old. The pool and hot tub was a bit of a let down.

It was affordable and clean. I don't need anything fancy, just a place to sleep, and for that it was perfect. A beautiful view of the bridge and its right on the water. Free breakfast included biscuits and gravy which were very good. The staff was friendly, helpful, and informative about the area.
