An excellent park for hiking and outdoor activities. The landscape has unusual features that are beautiful. Some parts of the trails are a little rugged, but the effort is worth the views.

Easy hiking - Muddy Creek waterfall is the best!! Well laid out trails, easy to follow and if you like to hike, there are down hill and a bit harder areas to traverse. It is overall not a hard hike what so ever and even some areas meant for wheelchairs which is nice. Dogs are allowed if in control and we did see many. Easy parking (if you get in early) but will fill up if you are coming during peak times.

Breathtaking, beautiful. Shallow Falls State Park is an extraordinary place to visit. Whether you're there for a quick visit or for most of the day, there are many sights to see. I like that you can venture off the trail to get better views. The thrill of being next to the waterfall is very satisfying. You have got to visit this place.

Our family loves Swallow Falls and has been going there for over 25 years. Our kids are all 30 and older, and this is still one of their favorite places. Great in the summer to cool off and in the winter for extra beautiful scenery especially during and after the snow and when the falls are frozen.

Love this park! Go during the winter for an amazing view of ice sickles and the frozen waterfall at Muddy Creek Falls. Go during the summer for a totally different experience and fun hike. The fishing here is awesome!

One of my favorite campgrounds. It is remote and we'll kept. The river is beautiful and the trails well marked. The campsites are clean and we'll spaced with lots of room. The bathrooms are clean and modern. It is a short trip into town, either Oakland or McHenry. I've been many times and will not hesitate to return.

Very popular destination, with the highest waterfall in Maryland. A path makes all the waterfalls accessible on foot, with special parking and a boardwalk for the handicapped that allows access to the highest falls. A group of very famous industrialists and inventors once camped here. Great for a day visit and campgrounds also available for longer stays.

Wonderful place to go to. We went here in the morning for a hike, there are 3 different falls that you can see but we only managed to get to 2 of them due to time. When you first drive in it cost $3 in-state, and $5 out-state to park. They keep the park very clean. The trail is easy to walk. Definitely recommend.

This is the most beautiful place. 3 different falls toliver, swallow falls and muddy creek which was my favorite. Great place to relax and take in the beauty around you! I took a 4yr old and she loved it. Played in the water etc. Great little hiking trip with kids who love the outdoors!

This is lovely state park. Plenty to see in the 30 or so acres it is set in. The paths are well maintained and the access to all 4 waterfalls is reasonable (although not accessible to all).
The member of staff I spoke to in the shop (which also acts as an information point) was very friendly and helpful. If it wasn't so far away I'd spend so much more time here.response / report this review -

Very pretty park with multiple waterfalls. Well maintained trails that are good for beginners. You can swim in the river but be careful bc the rocks are very slippery. Park has an ice cream stand with extremely good ice cream from lakeside creamery.

Wonderful hiking experience. Trails are for just about everyone, with some exceptions. Part of the trails are gravel, though I don't recall if bikes are allowed. Docked a star because they don't allow pets (and we drove an hour there with our dog to find out the hard way). But, the falls are really pretty and the hiking is nice. And, you can swim in the water (at your own risk)!

Love the hike here. You can do the long route or if you for feel like it, take the short cut right to the falls. But the long hike is really worth it!

Beautiful. The trails are extremely well kept. It's still a little steep and Rocky in spots so small children may have some difficulty. However, for the most part the trail was easy to maneuver. The trail takes you to 4 different falls and then loops back around. The loop may be about 1 to 1.5 miles on total. I walked it about 3 times no problem. Theres a small playground with monkey bars and swings. There's also a nice pavilion and plenty of room for picnicing. The trials weren't really busy the day I was there after a hard rain in early May so it wasn't crowded.
