Comfortable, cozy setting with amazing views of the sunset and great drink prices. Rooms aren't anything special, but they are not bad. Because the bar is open no-see-ems and mosquitoes come right in, but they keep spray available at the bar
This only applies to the Tiki Bar which we visited on a recent Sunday afternoon. Its popular with the locals who bring their own glasses. We were there on Sarong Sunday according to the bartender who was wearing one. He told us apparently no one else got the memo. The Sugarloaf Punch is a killer, 4 kinds of rum including 151. Three is the limit unless you are staying at the Lodge. I almost subtracted a star because of the disco music, but what the heck, this is the Keys. The folded facecloth coasters were a nice touch though.
Tiki bar was lovely. Bartender and food from next door were both great. Stopped by on Thursday morning and they were hosting an art class. Great place, would recommend to locals and tourists!
Every person that works for the Sugarloaf lodge is truly a joy to be around. They treated us like part of their family. Maids were so thoughtful when cleaning the room, even decorated our daughters bed with her stuffed animals which is a huge deal to her. The office staff went above and beyond to accomated our family. Bartenders were amazing with nightly music. Thank you again, we will continue to share our experience with everyone we know!! Room-406
A little dated but clean awesome environment. Great Tiki Bar great access to the Gulf. Access to the Atlantic if you can get under the bridge. Awesome View
The place is amazing!! The staff were very nice. The room was very clean and comfortable, right next to the water, with gorgeous view.
We liked the bar and the pool.
Perfect!!
Old school charm in the lower keys without the Key West prices. Tiki bar is a locals spot with drink prices from the 90s. Great waterfront views.
Had an amazing time here, just 15 minutes away from down town key west. The rooms are clean and adorable with a 60s retro vibe. Pool was clean and not over chlorinated and they have a cute tiki bar with affordable drinks and food that are also good. Uber or lyft is a few minutes wait and is suggested for a night of drinking. The view is gorgeous, our room was the only one available closest to key west that wouldn't break our wallets. Staff is friendly and kind. Will return
We were here for a week and had a great time. The rooms are clean, bed comfortable and bedding soft; we had a view of the ocean; a small balcony; the tiki bar is always friendly. We really enjoyed the pool which is surrounded by beautiful palm trees; there is a lift to assist disabled into the pool if needed. It is only 12 miles to Key West; many great restaurants in the Keys and handy from the Lodge. We will be back.
Honestly from the road driving by, it looked very sketchy, but there is nothing on this island reasonably price when you're traveling with children and in the month of July. So we stopped in and took a chance the first night being that we got here so late. Needless to say I was very very impressed. The room was super clean, the beds were clean and neatly made. We had a top floor balcony view, perfect for waking up having your coffee and just enjoying the view. Visited the tiki bar, very generous with making of the drinks. So, we came back for second night. Tonight we're on the bottom floor still with the patio view overlooking the water, and we even tried the pizza place that's on site. The pizza is just ok, I'd give it a 3.5-4 star. This place has so much to offer for the price you won't find it anywhere else. We even got to see iguanas just roaming around the property. I seriously cannot speak more highly of this place especially for the price. Oh and to top it off Key West is only 30 minutes away.
Great Tiki Bar on the water next to the hotel. Didn't stay at the hotel.
1 month ago. We had a great time. Tiki bar was a nice stop. Everyone there couldn't be nicer.
Nice place to stay. Great food and beautiful view. Me and my family will be back.
Nice, quite and a Lot cheaper than staying in Key West but close enough to say that you did.
This is an older hotel but it is well maintained. The room was clean and spacious and had a great retro feel with wood paneling on the walls. Every room has a patio overlooking the water and there's a tiki bar out back that seems to be a popular spot with locals as it was quite busy even though the motel didn't appear to be full.
