Stroud's fried chicken is legend in KC! Their generous sides are served family style and bottomless! The chicken gravy is tremendous, and goes with everything.

I know people who LOVE Strouds. But for me, it's kind of blah. Nothing really special and there are far better options for chicken. But it is a K.C. institution so try for yourself!

Came here to celebrate our son's birthday. Looking at the menu it tells you the cook gets the choice of what two pieces of chicken you get on the 3 piece chicken dinner! I don't think so!! So the tone of the restaurant set me off along with one of the worst waitress's I've ever had in my life! Bossy! My husband took my plate to put a few pieces of chicken on it and she snaps at him that it is my plate! She also ruined our singing to our son with her little stupid birthday quotes after the song!!
We had heard great things about this place but we will never go back again!!response / report this review -

Delicious food and tons of it! I haven't had anything here that wasn't fabulous. The staff are always kid friendly too which is a bonus. Don't come if you are in a hurry but it's worth the wait.

Pleasant atmosphere. Plenty of food. I like my chicken a bit spicier. Lunch sides (green beans and mashed potatoes with gravy) plentiful and delicious

Excellent fried chicken tradition! Family style cooking. Generous portions. Helpful & courteous wait staff. Quiet, friendly atmosphere. Great for friends and family.

Lunchtime, we got in and seated right away. Our server, and the other staff, were friendly and efficient. Great chicken, and the sides were delicious. Hot cinnamon roles are distinctive and really good.

Enjoyed dinner here with family. Unpretentious atmosphere. Like a Mom n Pop that grew. Food was good. Portions were generous.

Didn't sample the fried chicken, but I did treat my taste buds to a delectable cinnamon sugar and salt delight. This bun is doughy in the right places and salty and sweet, basically the perfect woman, in bun form. Dedicating some serious time to master this gift from the gods.

Amazing service from our waitress. Addicting cinnamon rolls. More than enough food for each serving and moderately priced over all. Definitely recommend.

Food was actually really good. But my waitress was god awful. She yelled at one of the girls working because she went to move some extra plates we didn't need off our table since our waitress couldn't do it. So instead of talking to her privately about it she yelled at her in front of everyone (poor girl) then my daughter who is very curious was walking around and she told us she needs to be put on a leash "like a dog" as she put it. And then rushed us out like we didn't mean crap. definitely not a good experience the food however was AWESOME !

We went there as a group for lunch after church today. It was fantastic. They have a sat/sun lunch special for $11.99 with all the fixins. Some say they are expensive but this really helps. It wasn't the best chicken I ever had but I will go again. The service was awesome! The mashed potatoes and the cinnamon rolls were the best!!!
