Went here last night with my husband before seeing Nick Offerman at the Chicago Theater. The stars are only for the atmosphere and partial service. Not only were the drinks overpriced but the fooda joke. We tried 3 different starters and only the fried artichoke was worth a damn.
And you know how when you've had quite a few drinks everything seems to taste good? Well not here. Sorry guys! But this place is trying way too hard to be Ramsey or something.

The food and drinks are great, and so is the service. Highly recommend the cheesy pretzel.

I visited State and Lake three times whilst staying at theWit hotel. I really enjoyed the ambience the first two times, the 3rd was spoilt by a wedding party that seemed to take over the whole hotel, including the roof-top bar, meaning I had to leave the hotel to feel relaxed. The NY Strip entree for dinner was excellent and the Chilauques (sic) was delicious for breakfast. The service was good, the staff very friendly and accommodating, and they also put English soccer on for me at 7am on a Saturday so I was happy. In all number of pluses. However, and I address this to the management/head chef, it seemed like a number of beers on the drinks menu weren't available, the beer list was different all three times I went (in just two days) and personally speaking the menu seemed to be biased towards sweet flavours with lots of dishes with apple, apricot, orange, plum, sweet potato, etc. I've got a savoury palate, so more umami would be welcome.

First place I head to when on holiday from the UK for great cocktails and great staff. This time I saw they serve foi gras, which involves an incredibly cruel production method. I didn't go back and when I sent a polite tweet about my concerns they blocked me. Nice way to treat a customer who's spent $hundreds at your bar. Never again.

My coworkers and I went for lunch. The food was good. Three people got the chicken sandwich, and I got the porchetta sandwich. Mine was good, if not a little bit bland. I used some of the horseradish sauce from our crispy onion appetizer, and it kicked it up a notch. Service was good. He kept out drinks filled and stopped by from time to time.

Perfect brunch spot, delicious, and the staff is amazing. All around great experience. Tavern potatoes are the best!

Nice place. Friend worked with Mylin and Alan and picked up a rare Bourbon County beer for a good price. They will negotiate.

The service is great! But the Ruben Absolutely not for me! It has these intense mushrooms that over power the meat. The pretzel was delicious baked perfect soft inside and crunchy outside. The octopus soup was very interesting. I still haven't made my mind up on whether i enjoyed it or not yet I ate the most of the it. Omg the chicken wigs were ok. I've definitely had better. Back to the Ruben because it really disappointed me. I'd like to taste more meat than mushroom. The restaurant is Nice. Nice music and very comfortable seating. I won't be back but I hope others enjoy.

Excellent service, nice atmosphere and great food! Our waiter was very educated on the menu items and made really good, honest suggestions. The pretzel appetizer was good and the boar/mushroom ragu was good too. Also shared a burger with bacon and egg which tasted great as well.
