Really cool place well maintained a really cool trail. But some really.reallyREALLY dark history interesting history but dark. From a historic standpoint it's a must see for everyone and it is worth leaving a tip.
Such a beautiful place to visit. Love the stations of the cross. Will be back with other family members.
Beautiful
Beautiful and holy place.
This is the most peaceful place on earth that I have ever found. You can sit almost anywhere and enjoy nature, weather (mild to extreme), timber to prairie, solitude, prayer, meditation and a "blank mind" period.
I have witnessed turkey within 10 ft. of my position, baby deer (fawn) under my feet, as well as coon, rabbit, opossum and armadillo. I have encountered snakes and lizards while on the trails.
The undisturbed timber produces flowers, "Indian Apple" plants, blackberry, gooseberry and mushrooms all in season. Many trees native of Eastern Kansas and fantastic photo opportunities.
This is a park that is kept "rough" in it's conditions and is great for children, adults, boyscouts, girlscouts, grade schools. Camping can be done with permit but remember there is no running water, electricity and only a "modern outhouse" restroom (has concrete floor).
ENJOY THIS ONE OF A KIND PARK!
