Extremely caring for animals and owners. They go out of their way to work with client to arrange reasonable payments on an individual basis. I have taken ALL of my pets there for the past 27 years, and am currently taking my current pet there. I would HIGHLY recommend the staff and business.

Despite the fact there are 4 other veterinary practices within a mile of my home, I continue to make the drive to St. Joe Vet, because the staff is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable.
I was treated very poorly by a vet in the Dupont Rd area, in regards to a one time tardiness for an appointment. 5 minutes means I have to reschedule, even with a phone call enroute? No, thanks. NEVER do I get such rude or inflexible treatment at St. Joe. If you want the very best treatment for your pet (and yourself), use this practice. I have come to this practice for about 20 years. Although I initially missed Dr. Chastain, Drs. Hendrickson and Stapleton have easily filled my high expectations for medical care and personable service. I should be so lucky to have an MD for myself I trust as much as these two vets. Updated: I have left this vet. Things began to change on a management level. The staff began to reflect that tone we all despise, like " would you like fries with that?" Service suffered and wait times for appointments became ridiculous.

Note: First visit. This vet hospital is clean which I believe to be extremely important. Dr. Hendrickson interacted with my dog and gave him a thorough exam. I was more than happy with this vet hospital ! Kudos.

Incredibly careless and incompetent team. They are owned by a company out of California called NVA, so if you think you are supporting local, you're not. They are driven by revenue and do not care about you or your pet.

Office Error = Animal Not Getting Life-Saving Help

I just popped in to pick up a few bags of fluids that I administer to my cat, who has kidney disease, but the receptionist refused me. I've been giving my cat needs these fluids for three years, and she needs this to live.

When I was in a few weeks ago I asked the woman at the counter about having someone bring in my cat for a tech to give fluids when I'm out of the country. She said I would need to have her examined by the vet before the techs could give her fluids themselves, which was fine.

However, there was a huge miscommunication in the notes, because today I was told I couldn't buy more fluids to give to my cat myself until I made an appt. That is not what I had been told a few weeks ago.

I have given my cat fluids for over 3 years now. She has recently seen a vet. There should be no problem in my getting a bag of fluids to continue to keep her alive.

If this had been communicated to me properly, I would not have allowed myself to run out of fluids before stopping in to get more supplies. She needs them everyday to survive.

This is a huge problem when an administrative error causes my cat to not receive the care she needs.

I have no problem making an appt., but I do have a problem being told I can't buy fluids until she's seen by a vet. This is ridiculous.

Today I was told there needs to be a patient/vet relationship established before I can buy fluids to administer to her. That's fine. But don't make my cat suffer because of your communication mistake. There are no vet police who are going to shut you down because you gave me a bag of fluids before I made an appointment.

If it was the case, then why was I not offered the opportunity to make an appt. during my visit 3 weeks ago? Three weeks ago I was trying to talk to the woman at the counter about sending over my vet records, and instead she was terse and rushed me out the door.

Now I'm wondering what other kinds of mistakes this office would make if I were to entrust my cat's care to them. I've decided their incompetency is not worth risking my cat's life.

BTW, you might want to check out their Yelp rating. 1.8 stars? Scary.

Awesome! After recently moving to Fort Wayne we needed to find a vet for our pups. Finally decided on St. Joe Center Veterinary Hospital because of the paw plan they have. On the first appointment, Dr. Hendrickson came in the room and got on the floor with them. My shy beagle mix actually went right up to her and kissed her nose! That was a big deal for himto do that. It was decided then and there this was our new vet office. Love it!

If you have a cat, Dr. Kitson is the best. She's caring, and very clearly loves cats.
