The absolute suprise of our trip to Blowing Rock. We were hesitant to go based on the the OLD VERSION of Speckled Trout. The NEW OWNERS have turned that place around. Great beer/wine selections! Food is locally sourced, cooked to perfection, and staff was FABULOUS!!!! Just LOVE ERICA!..Merry Christmas!

Food was really good! The smoked trout was a very delicious addition to the deviled eggs. The almond encrusted trout was very tasty. The service was excellent and super friendly. A little pricey is the only reason it’s not 5 stars. Will go again, after I save up a little change.

Fantastic and unique! Not a fast food joint, you will wait but it is worth it. Wife had trout and I had the venison sliders. Excellent cider and some locally brewed beer. Already planning to stop in a again on our next trip to Blowing Rock.

Just had one of the best steaks I've ever had in this area at this New Speckled Trout in Blowing Rock. The smoked trout appetizer was very special, shared by 2 of us. We especially enjoyed the complimentary wine tasting offered when we first arrived. And the great selection of the local craft beers was a pleasant surprise! The remodel of this old local restaurant is modern and pleasant. Wines available for purchase by the bottle for take home. Can't wait to go back!!

This place is amazing! They have a wonderful beer selection and great cocktails! You will not be disappointed with the food either! All ingredients are as local as they can make it. I believe I've been there at least once a week since their new opening and have yet to have a bad experience!

Loved sitting on the porch, great atmosphere, very friendly staff. Everything was DELICIOUS! Server gave great beer recommendations, food came quickly and was amazing (venison sliders & trout special- WOW). I even had to steal some of my sons kids menu grilled cheese, we will definitely be back!

Amazing NEW restaurant and brew options. This is under new management and has made a 180 degree turn for the better. Servers are focused on you, Food was perfect. I had a crisp chicken sandwich with an apple mountain chow chow and aioli. Others at the table devoured fresh salads, roasted root hash and tender hoecakes with a house made sorghum butter. Seemingly endless adult beverage options. On site manager walked us through the bottled wine selections and BOY did he know his stuff. We will be back and telling everyone else too. Much needed venue in downtown Blowing Rock.

The beer selection is amazing. I highly recommend you come in and try the Prairie Apricot Funk before it kicks!

Disregard the previous reviews! Don't pass this place up! My husband and I live in Blowing Rock and went to this place back in November (before the change in ownership) and it was horrible! We were hearing good things about the newly renovated restaurant, we decided to go check it out. We walked away with a very reasonable bill and having delicious food. Deviled eggs, venison sloppy joe and fried chicken are a must!

A tad on the pricey side, but what great food and service. We had lunch there today and were blown away. I ordered their venison sliders, which is listed as an appetizer; met perfectly cooked. Fresh buns, and a wonderful chow chow to complement the venison.

Peggy had soup beans, black-eyed peas, ham hock, kale, hoecakes, sorghum butter. Generous serving, more than she could eat, cooked perfectly al dente for the black-eyed peas. Hoecakes are even better than cornbread in my opinion, and I ended up sipping up the last of the sorghum butter, which was a real treat for me.

They have water in stoppered carafes, and Peggy had sweet tea which was among the best I have ever tasted. As I said, a tad pricey, but every person we encountered in the place was supremely friendly. It's a bit of a trek for us, but we will definitely be going back.

Disregard all the 1-star ratings. Please try this place.

My wife and I had a wonderful experience at The Speckled Trout. The atmosphere, staff and food were all excellent and the selection of wine and beer is outstanding.

The restaurant has been recently renovated and the menu has been reworked as well. All the food is fresh (no freezers on site), locally grown and made in-house. We had the 13 mile burger and the chicken and dumplings both were fantastic.

I highly recommend you come and check it out for yourself.
