Good food, fun experience "Dinner in the Dark" would have been insanely expensive without Groupon. Still wasn't cheap. Staff was friendly.

If you are looking for a boring atmosphere, bland Italian food, small portions that will leave you hungry afterwards at a ridiculously high price, this place is for you Not a true "dining in the dark"experience. You need to wear blindfolds to be in the dark. There is only one table in a semi-dark setting surrounded with curtains. The table seats six and we were 2 couples. The food was descent, but super easy to figure out what you were eating. The portions were ridiculously small and not worth the price, as a matter of fact we all left hungry and had to get something to eat afterwards. We spent $140 for 2 people and then had to go out to eat again???? By the way I weigh 125 lbs so I don't eat a lot to begin with, but again the portions are way too small. We had the wine package for an extra $15 each. Dessert was not included and paid an extra $12 for it. Service was slow and you are forced to pay 20% gratuity on the total bill at the end. Appetizer one slice of cucumber with tomatoes on top, very small salad, 4 mini ravioli's, dinner 3 small slices of chicken breast with a scoop of guacamole. Don't waste you money! Very disappointing to say the least.

If you want a low quality expensive Italian dinner in a wonderful atmosphere look no further!
On Valentine's Day, my girlfriend and I visited this "fine" establishment to celebrate the day. We had made reservations and arrived 5 minutes early, and noticed that the restaurant was basically empty. When we approached the host, we were told that we had to wait out the five minutes before we could even be seated. Sounds outrageous right, or am I just crazy?
Anyways, proceeding to the dining experience- we were eventually seated. We were visited by several people whom we all thought were our waiter, which was kind of frustrating when it came to asking for simple things like a napkin or more water, etc.
Onwards to the meal- we had both ordered the Snapper Angela and a Cutting Board. The Cutting Board was pretty good (although there isn't much to mess up with cutting meats, cheeses, and veggies.) On the otherhand, the snapper seemed to have been overcooked or left on a heat lamp for way too long , leaving it bone dry and the flavor of the dish had a sensation of being overly-salted.
All in all for a meal that approached $100 I was pretty disappointed in the meal that was supposed to be a special dinner. Again, if you want a low quality expensive Italian dinner in a wonderful atmosphere look no further!response / report this review -

I've been going to Solita since the opening. Known the owners from a past place they owned and they are always strong on their concepts. The food reminds me of big family dinners in NY and the atmosphere is very chic but friendly at the same time.

My family and I tried the Dining the Dark experience last week and I have to say it was absolutely fantastic. You MUST do this. It is a very interesting way to enjoy a meal. The concept behind it is that eating in the dark enhances your other senses including taste. I have to say, I believe it did. But, the taste would not be enhanced if the food is not good and I can tell you, the food they served was DELICIOUS. Very well done. Very exciting. Secondly, the staff was just FANTASTIC - very accommodating and fun.We just had a great, great time. I plan to bring friends back. I cannot say enough about SoLita. Get out of your comfort zone, try something fun and different next time you want to go out to dinner - and this is certainly something you should try with a great, great restaurant.
