Front desk is disgustingly rude! Had issues with my card since I'm out of my normal town. When I booked it said I could pay cash, got a call and was told card only. Glad it didnt go through because they are so rude and was very nasty on the phone! Don't book here, also the declibed charge was for more than the initial price I was told!
They charged over charged my card. They dont return calls. I had to let my credit card company deal with them. Place is a dump. Worst uncomfortable bed, couldnt sleep at all. I stayed there the week before Irma hit fl. Wont stay there again. The bar tender is a thief. WATCH HIM. He tried to give me change back from a 20 and said it was a ten. He charged more for drinks from four drunk guys who came in 15 min after we did. They ordered the same beers we did, they where charged a lot more. Do yourself a favor, and just keep walking by and dont stop at this place. Dont let them steal from you. Key West is a fun place if you let there bars. Not much to do but drink. The beaches in the area were beautiful. Wish we had stayed at a better place, book early.
Stayed here for Memorial Day weekend with the family. Cannot say enough how convenient this place is. We stayed in the Cuban Suite it has 3 queen beds and plenty of space. Room was clean and comfortable and the staff is friendly and great. I don't know why they don't have a higher star rating. It's right on Duvall and close to everything. within walking distance to the harbour, Irish Kevin's, sloppy Joes, and more. We rode bikes (5 min) to the beach, Hemingway House, and Blue Heaven. Will definitely stay here the next time we come to Key West. I'm reading some of these reviews and I can't believe how people can be. It's KW, you want to spend a fortune for posh, go for it, for me, I'd rather experience KW like this. close to everything and in the thick of it.
Had a horrible experience at this hotel. We had a 3 night stay, and after one night they KICKED us out of our room, and refused us service. The website clearly states, "pet friendly" (with no weight limit listed). When we were unpacking, we heard a dog barking in the room next to us. We travel with a 35lb well behaved and trained service animal, and due to the animal we were refused service. There really is no management, but the bartenders that also is the front desk stated absolutely no pets. So when we questioned the other dog present barking in the room next to us, they stated that it was not allowed either, then changed there story that it was a allowed because of size. They discriminated against an individual with a mental disability, which saddens me that people like that are still present in a place like Key West that is know for celebration of differences.
Horrible!! Small room, small fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Tiny shower. Towels provided are old and rough. Only one channel worked on the small television. Probably the worst part of the hotel was the bed. It was hard as a rock and old coils poked you in the back the entire night. I called the manager Josh to see if he could offer us anything to make the bed more comfortable and he was very rude!! It would have better to sleep in the car. I would never recommend this Inn to anyone!! Please don't waste your money or time!!
Stayed on the island for a conference but wanted something that felt like key west. If you're looking for something in the center of everything with good staff and a nice clean studio I suggest you stay here. We loved it and it turned our work week into a mini vacation.
Fun to take a quick pic but really is ridiculously small.
This place was such a great find! My girlfriend and I stayed here and really fell in love with the place. The location is awesome, right on duval streetwalking distance to EVERYTHING! If you are looking for a real key west experience I highly recommend it. If you are a cry baby and can not handle all that is Key West, spend the money and stay at the Marriott like the rest of the tourists.
We were in Studio 4. We were booked to stay from 4/2 - 4/8. We left 4/6.
I agree with the other negative reviews. If we could give this place a negative rating we would. I've been to Key West several times over the years & love everything about the island. Except the Old Customs House Inn. I am not a negative person but definitely feel it important to share with others our experience so they can stay elsewhere.
- SHOWER - BAD: The showers are about 2.5 ft by 2.5 ft. Maybe 3ft x 3ft. They are TINY. Unless you're a tiny person, your showering experience will be horrid. We're 5'7" & 5'6" so not giants & the shower was still tiny.
- SHOWER - BAD: The largest issue of the shower.the water temperature. Every drop of every shower was cold. Not 1 second of a shower was relaxing or enjoyable. To be fair, you do get about 17 seconds of blazing hot water (you can't even get in the shower when these rays from hell are shooting out) but, after the 17 seconds, COLD. The temperature handle does nothing, you are just stuck with the blazing hot then COLD.
- NOISE - BAD: We are not sheltered nor are we uptight. But for the love of all that is holy the noise is INSANE. The rooms are right above/next to the Hog's Breath & the windows are old. Count on a live, blaring concert in the "comfort" of your own hotel room day & night. I love music as much as the next person buttrust me, it's a LOT & it is impossible to sleep with.
- MANAGEMENT - BAD: When you check in, you'll check in at the World's Smallest Bar. Sounds fun but, have any issues? Need more toilet paper? Wonder if there is any way to tame the wild beast of a shower? A bartender-manager is NOT the combo you're looking for.
No one to call if you need anything, if something goes wrong. There is just a bartender at the bar next door & the manager is only there sometimes/during his shift whenever that may bewe never caught him.
- MANAGEMENT - BAD: We decided we finally had enough of no toilet paper, terrible beds, gross rooms, cold showers and our blaring personal concert so we actually left Key West early. 2 days and 2 nights early. We went to the bar to hand our keys in and tell the bartender we were going to be checking out early because of our issues. The bartender on staff was not the bartender-manager so he told us to call the manager once we got to Miami to try and get the situation figured out about the refund but that he would let him know we were leaving. We got to Miami and called the bartender-manager, Josh, and he let us know that we were crap out of luck.
Apparently it was our issue that we did not let him know personally that we were leaving, and we would not be getting a refund. He also was seemingly unwilling to have any sort of conversation about our negative experience, refund, thanks for leaving, thanks for staying, nothing.
I attempted to ask how the bartender not telling him that we left was our issue and how could it possibly be our fault he didn't know we left (imagine the lack of service, attention, interaction or awareness it would take to not realize that one of your 4 rooms is sitting emptyand the keys are at the bar). This apparently was not a discussion we were going to have and he "kindly" let me know that I would be crap out of luck unless he could get the room listed and rented out and that's all he could do. The conversation stopped there for him.
I asked when I should follow-up with him & when I would know about a refund for the nights we did not stay. He said that I could call him tomorrow & IF there would be a refund, he would let me know then but again, no room rented out, no refund. What? How is that an option? Or any sort of policy?
- PICKLES - GOOD: There is a green parrot that stays on the premises. His name is Pickles & he is crazy cute.
All in all, this place is absolutely horrible. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The location is awesome but, seriously, there is no location in the world that could make up for all the crap that this experience has yielded.
