BBQ was fantastic, great beer selection, and the atmosphere is fantastic. Parking is a real PITA, especially in the winter around dinner time. A local cautioned against parking near the train terminal saying there were a rash of break-ins. Despite that, we'd go back in a heartbeat, never felt unsafe, and loved the place. Our server was not fantastic, but she seemed pretty busy too. No offers of refills or to buy more beers. 5 stars despite that!
Was very disappointed the last time been there many times was always great but I had heard that the quality at gone down our appetizer portion size sucked it was so small food tasted old reheated every beer they had listed even on the website after they told me to look it up on the website to see him all they didn't have server was okay but she did seem to disappear for long periods of time I guess they put everything into their new location in Pontiac that I hear is failing. Definitely has gone downhill not what it was couple years back guess they got too big for their own britches
Possibly the friendliest bartenders I've ever encountered! Not snobby, very attentive, great recommendations, and we're overall amazing! When they found out my sister was in from out of state, and the Detroit native, they went out of their way to welcome her back
The food was also delicious! The mac and cheese, pulled pork, and Zingerman's cornbread were all fantastic! My sister is gluten-free, and there were many menu options for her to choose from.
My only real complaint is that, since there was a 40-minute wait when we arrived, my sister and I took seats at the bar when they were available. We were very hungry, so ordered food and drinks. Our boyfriends stood behind us. When a table became available, however, they told us we were not allowed to transfer. It wouldn't have been so bad, except my boyfriend's son showed up. 5 people at a bar makes it pretty tough to converse. And we didn't all get seats at the bar until after nearly an hour. We offered to settle our tab at the bar, and assured the hostess that the fellas would be ordering food at a table. Neither the bartender nor our server would miss out. However, they still would not seat the five of us once our table was ready
Little wait time on a Saturday night. Place was packed. We sat at the bar & didn’t finish our drink before our table was ready. Love the BBQ pork & the fries were yummy. Ordered a salad that never came 😕 The waiter seemed too busy to correct it & I wasn’t going to bother because my main dish had already arrived.
I have been craving the mac and cheese side dish so immensely that I have considered driving the 3 hours over the border to get some. The only downside of being Canadian is not having this place nearby. We had a wonderful experience here! I had the smoked apple BBQ chicken, mac n cheese, and potato salad--all of which were to die for!! I can't wait to road trip back!
The best barbecue in Detroit! If you like barbecue chicken, beef, and pork you're in luck! It's impossible to walk away hungry and happy. The food is top notch, from the meats to the mac and cheese, to the cornbread, and soups, everything is delicious! There are two bars with a great selection of beer, spirits, and wine. I would put Slow's up against any other barbecue restaurant.
Had dinner at Slows on Michigan Avenue in Detroit with a friend tonight. Over the years I've heard raves about Slows. I've had it once catered as a I was a guest for a party a few years ago and it was great but never in any of their restaurants. After tonight I can say WOW!!! I had the pulled pork and it was phenomenal!!! The sides were so delicious and the sauce was beyond succulent. And tasty cornbread!!! The thing is I wasn't even that hungry at the time but it was so good I had to eat it all!!! Pardon me but even my burps tasted good! I would gladly and eagerly go back!!! And also the service was prompt and friendly and we felt genuinely welcomed.
My recommendation is to not be "slow" making your way to Slows!!!

Wow! This place might look like old loft, but inside it's a cozy setting for all ages.
I had the pulled chicken, while my son and his wife enjoyed the three combination plate which included, pulled pork, pulled chicken and beef brisket. You have a choice of sauces to choose from right at your fingertips.
Sauces like apple BBQ, mild , spicy sweet and a few more. Every meal comes with two sides.
First time here and I must say, it won't be the last. Pricing is very reasonable especially for the portions.👍
Delicious BBQ served up in a intimate setting. From the front door to the lighting to the delicious homemade lemonade, this BBQ joint let's you know that they take themselves seriously by investing time and thought into even the most simplest of things. When it comes to the food, everything was absolutely delicious, and it was paired by an array of different style BBQ sauces on the table (all of which were fantastic). To wash down the food, their beer selection features many local and traditional beer options leaving something for everyone, although I went with their lemonade; it's non-refillable, but I can't emphasize enough that it is a MUST for people who love lemonade. Beyond that, our service was provided by Heather, and was absolutely fantastic. I will absolutely be coming back here and waiting however long is necessary to get a table.
Good barbecue chicken and sides were tasty as well. It's usually really crowded, so I would suggest you call ahead and make a reservation. There is a full service bar to sit at and outdoor patio seating to. To enter there is a huge brown oak type door you pass through. The cornbread was delicious, tasted just like Jiffy from the box! The sweet barbecue sauce was delicious over my pulled Apple smoked chicken.
It's a cute place and we came here for lunch. Had the pulled pork sandwich and it was delicious. The servings of fries are HUGE. Service was fast and friendly and we were able to find parking just around the corner.
Overall the experience was decent. Mac n cheese was not very good. Sauces were great. Half rack of ribs was alright, half was tender, half was tougher. Only have butter knives to cut meat! You better ask the kitchen to cut it. Jalapeno black beans weren't that good. Waffle fries were excellent. Brisket was good. NEEDS A DOOR SIGN. Watched many groups walk around the building looking for the entrance in the rain. I had to call myself for them to show me.
Very popular place. Lucky we made reservations. I like the beef ribs but not the best I had. My favorite BBQ place is still Phil's in San Diego. The sweet potato mash and Zingerman's pecan pie were good.
Good but missing something. I expected the BBQ flavors to create that mouthwatering "OMG" feeling. It was good, don't get me wrong but based on the hype I was disappointed. Wouldn't go back. Very cool establishment and decent service given how busy they are.
The food was delicious! Best BBQ I've ever had. There are 5 sauces too choose from, I chose spicy and sweet. I ordered a half rack of baby back ribs and had no complaints. The wait for our foor was longer than normal but they offered free drinks for our waits. Definitely worth it!
