As with other reviews, the operation manager is a total jerk along with Kathy at the front desk.

Both just hung up on me when I was trying to get some resolution to the damage, yes I said damage to my boat when they stored it this past winter.

Guess my next step is a legal one.

Their sling stretched the hell out of my boat in 4 places.

They got very upset that I accused them of damaging my boat. And 2 months later have refused to better the damage.

They initially claimed that they buffed out the damage, but they didn't.

I contacted them, left a message for Pete who never didn't return my call.

When I contacted Pete today he right out lied to me stating in May they said they talked to me and I refused to have them fix my boat.

Here is the funny thing. I didn't put my boat in that water til mid June😝

    They are terrible and liars.

    You have been warned!

$125/hr for mechanic's time! Really? Even airplane mechanics (which have to comply with FAA regulations, have a ton of more training and who are personally responsible for their work charge less than that). They got wind that the other local boat maintenance shop is backed up so they are jacking up prices to take advantage.

The service manager, Pete Deri, is completely incompetent and he has a severe anger problem. He rants and screams at customers in a threatening way and if he gets mad, he will demand payment by "cash only", no checks or credit cards. This is not Skipper Buds policy, this is Service Manager Pete Deri's policy. He ran up my bill to over 5 times the original quote with no estimates along the way. The repair time went from an estimated "few days" to several weeks, After installing a new transmission, he could not diagnose a vibration and noise problem with it so he began throwing parts at it and he ran my bill through the roof. He installed a flex plate, cutlass bearing, removed the prop shaft several times, installed another new transmission, tuned up the engine and installed numerous other parts, charging me for everything and every hour of labor and still he could not fix the issue. His solution was to drain the transmission fluid and put in heavy engine oil to dampen the vibration. I'm a machinist and part-time auto mechanic and to me this sounded wrong. It seemed like the equivalent of putting saw dust into a noisy engine. Being that it was a was a brand new transmission, I called the manufacturer. They told me this was completely wrong and that what he did voided my warranty. I politely asked Pete about this and he went nuts. He started yelling and ranting and calling me names. He told me how long he had been doing this and said that all boat
mechanics did this. He was screaming at me and turning red. I actually thought he was going to hit me. I insisted that he put the correct fluid in my new transmission, which he did and he charged me for it again. Now, after spending a fortune on replacing every part he could think of, the boat is still making noise with severe vibration and Pete Deri made it perfectly clear he "was done with this boat". I have to take it somewhere else to have them fix what he did. The bill went from my estimate of about $1200 for a trans cooler to around $7000 and it's still not usable. I have never been treated so poorly by the representative of a company in all my life. I would strongly suggest you NEVER go to Skipper Buds for anything. Service Manager Pete Deri is a disgrace. Oh, and he is keeping my boat until I pay off the last couple hundred dollars in "CASH ONLY' because he got mad. I contacted the corporate office but have yet to hear back. If they refund my money I will be much happier but this hot-headed, incompetent bully of a service manager needs to be fired.

I wasn't to Happy when they were down for a few days with there forklift, but they ordered a part to get there forklift up and running in 3 days, paid to have the part made locally, paid an arm and a leg for it, otherwise they would have been down 3 weeks
I love being able to just leave after I'm done boating and not worry about anything, that part is pretty Awesome..

I have always bought new boats but with getting ready to retire in 2 years I didn't the new boat payments. I ended up trading in a 2006 Glastron GX 185 on a 2006 GX 205 with much more room and many more of the options I was looking for. 1st out to test the boat we had an issue that it wouldn't start. They were going to send someone to the lake to help us but we would have had to wait a couple hours since all there people were already assisting people with boats on other lakes.
We were able to get the boat to them and they immeadiatly started looking for the problem while we were there.
Found out was the problem came from who ever did the winterization for the previous owner.
Skipper Buds had the boat up and running the next day.
Thanks Skipper Buds. I know it's one of the busiest times of the year with getting the new boat sales prepped and delivered but still found the time for the used boat just as if it was the high end new boat.
    Thanks again.
