A wonderful boardwalk path for those who enjoy a good ole walk through the park. The facilities are clean, the boardwalk is upkept, and the scenery is beautiful. My only complaint would be when it gets busy it tends to lose some tranquility because an unfortunate amount of people don't respect the nature disturbance rules (no power walking, no phones, lower voices, etc.)

This place is a gem. If you are a nature photographer, you will not be disappointed. Stand or sit still quietly on the walkway or one of the secluded benches for a few minutes and watch what happens. Unfortunately I have encountered too many individuals and families who ignore the signs asking (politely) to keep quiet, walk softly and not use cell phones.

Quiet sense of solitude in the middle of the city. How did we get so lucky that this beauty was saved from developers. Be prepared to see a wide variety of swamp life including butterflies, alligators, turtles, and a variety of birds and insects. All viewed from a raised boardwalk with periodic shelters to sit and enjoy the beauty.

This is "the real world" the real Florida in contrast to the artificial Florida people have created of buildings, roads, and manicured lawns that require a lot of maintenance with sprinklers, fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides. This is an awesome example of the natural beauty that existed in much of Florida before it was "developed" and "improved". Enjoy the towering Cypress trees that flourish in the wetlands. Or the different kinds of epiphytes (air plants) that grow on the trees, getting all their water and nutrients solely from the air. Notice how a minute change in altitude of just 1-2 feet above the water level creates dry islands with different vegetation.

Oh, and by the way, the air conditioning is broken and there apparently wasn't enough money to screen in the entire preserve. So if you can't handle the heat and mosquitoes of Florida's natural environment, come in the fall, winter and spring.

We love Six Mile Cypress Slough. With lots of wildlife and a shaded boardwalk, it's a great place for our family to take evening walks. We've seen snakes, gators, birds, and even wild pigs there, so the wildlife is fantastic! It can be a little warm in the summer, but that's Florida.

This is a really neat place. You will learn a lot about species in the area and what the it used to be like there.

Price is decent. If you come in the winter (cooler months) it is a little more comfortable but there will be less activity with the wild life. Summer is much hotter, but a lot more to see.
