I read many recent reviews before we decided to make the 2+hour drive to give it a try. Despite the majority of the water slides being closed -we had a great time. We got there just after the park opened and we're able to park close to the entrance. I am 65 yrs old and my grandson, who is 11, and I rode every roller coaster at least once. We rode "ride of steel" at least 8x. We rode most rides in the first position. I think I probably rode a "high thrill ride 25x". We had packed a lunch and left it in the car due to the universal complaints about food prices. Since we were parked close - this was no problem. We changed into our bathing suits in the car and hit the solitary water slide group of 4 that was open. Clearly a lack of lifeguard certified operators is the issue with the water park. Complaints about lack of water slide attendants versus fully staffed concessions are not fair. Especially since the concessions are likely staffed by independent operators. They certainly aren't required to have lifesaving certification. Still, it was good to get cooled off in the wave pool. Towards evening we went back to the car- changed back into dry clothes - had another bite to eat and went back to our favorite coasters. Yes there were tons of yellow jacket bees - avoid them and they'll avoid you. We never ate or drank anything in the park so it was a non-issue for us. We saw many attendants sweeping up and keeping the park as clean as possible. Never smelled any smoking. I witnessed one rider get chewed out by an operator because he pulled out his cellphone on a ride. He was banned from that ride the rest of the day. Bravo to the operator who noticed. A flying cellphone could really hurt someone. I was surprised that the place is as well kept as it is - considering where in the country it is located and the resulting lack of time to do outside work. I think those of us who like high thrill rides should be grateful to 6 flags for keeping it alive. It was a bonding day my grandson and I will never forget. Thanks!

Listen, even though I absolutely hate roller-coaster rides I still had lots of fun! I only went on the one with the water and it wasn't too bad. Even if you're not a fan of roller-coasters or you can't enjoy them because of a health related issue it's still a very fun experience. The arcade games were fun, staff was friendly.
Food and drinks both overpriced and definitely not worth it. The bathrooms were dirty and need to be renovated.response / report this review -

Could have been better if we were able to park the golf carts up by the front gate by the beach access from The campsites !! Six Flags Darien Lake you should consider that!! Other than that food was a little bit pricey all day drink is worth it especially if you have little ones!! Subway closes way too early makes it hard if you were able to walk something last second and you couldn't because they closed down between 4:30 and 5!! Park was slightly loud at night in the campsites due to everybody driving by and security!! Other than that I would consider bringing your own food and drinks until you get to the park other than that not too bad!!!! Staff was great and very nice!!

GREAT TIME! Went to the park for the first time in several years (COVID) and was pleasantly surprised. Although the addition of significant security layers is palpable, it was long overdue. We had a great time, felt safe, and even found some of the games to be priced lower than they ever were in the past. (Fascination!) Water park was fully staffed, which hasn't always been the case. This was a nice surprise! Looking forward to going back again and again.

Overall, the park was lots of fun. Not a lot of time spent waiting in line for rides on a Monday during the summer. Most we probably had to wait was 15 minutes for a roller coaster. Water park was significantly busier as it was hot outside. 3 of the big slides were broken/closed, which sucked, but oh well. Everything else was open, and the shorter wait times made up for it. Rides like ride of steel and tantrum you could just walk onto. I do recommend eating before and after you get to the park instead of spending the money on the park food. Wasn’t super worth the prices. Wish they still had some shows too. Seemed to have eliminated them after Covid. Hours for the park could be a bit longer as well. 11am-7pm on weekends is quite short for a theme park. Enough time for us to go on all the rides for the most part, but not if the park happened to be busier. Other then that, we had a fun time.
