Not even 24 hrs into my lease and I have killed 32 roaches. The sad part is that I read the reviews about the roach problem and I made it clear that I did not want this same issue. I was assured that they didn't have a roach problem. I looked at the model unit where I observed roach terds. I took the apartment as it had "new applicnces and no issues" Well it can't be new if someone else used it already hince the issues. Now not only do I have a job but when I get home I have another one, EXTERMINATOR. This will be the worst 1 year and now 13 days. I'm such an . for taking this apartment.
I just want to say that I'm not pleased with what I'm dealing with, and I haven't even moved in yet! Already starting off rocky! I went by during the begining of October to look at the apartments because I saw online that they had more then enough vacancies. Well, I received my application and began to fill it out. There was a special "If you apply before October 31, you'll receive $250 off the next two months rent!" So I turned in my application on October 26, 2017 along with a copy of my Georgia Driver's License, a copy of my Social Security Card, three current Check Stubs, and two money orders totaling of $150. I called to check the status of my application. First, they claimed that they couldn't find it. Then they claimed that the lady that received my application was not in the building and to call back. So I call back the next day. They claim that they still can't find my application. Then he says that emailing may receive faster responses so I started emailing them. The same response. Can't find my application. Then no responses at all. So I made an attempt to make a personal visit. They claimed my application wasn't filled until the 1st of November. So then I asked "Are you still honoring the $250 off the next two months rent, via the promotion?" His reply was, "I'll see what I can do" Well that's not good enough! Then once they sent me my approval letter, they asked me for a $500 deposit, nonrefundable. So then I asked, "Is this deposit amount based on credit? Because my credit score is 727 and $500 is a bit steep." And his reply was "I'm not sure."
I'm not about to pay $500, a nonrefundable deposit, on top of the $150 just to live somewhere that doesn't honor their word. For this, I would not recommend living here. If they are starting off this sketchy then I'm sure there will be many more problems up ahead. 😒😡😠😬
So let me give you all an honest review of this place. SO the area is a wee bit sketchy looking not gonna lie. My neighbors are super chill, never had an issue with them. The dumpster issue is HORRIBLE BUT if it's broken they have another one right next to it . As for bugs I had an issue in the beginning but then i ordered a UV pest repellent and after that I haven't had any issues whatsoever . Maintenance needs a lot of improvement. Some of the maintenance guys are really great, but there's one that needs to retire. I told the office that my dishwasher would leak a pool of water after it finished running. WHY DID THIS FOOL TURN IT ON FOR 3 SECONDS AND SAID IT WAS FINE!?.. No sir.. it's not there's a pool of water in my kitchen every-time it finishes . Also in my lower bathroom there was wiring that was covered with a rubber bar mat that came off two days later. My bathroom light upstairs doesn't have a cover, oh and the wiring in my kitchen lights are super spazzy. Mind you this is after they replaced the bulbs twice.
I love the layout of the actual loft, it's pretty dope. It's close to the city (20 minutes when traffic isn't psychotic). The walls are thin I used to hear my neighbors mattress at night haha.
Office staff is super chill, can't complain about them at all whatsoever.
Also when you pay your rent online there's a $4.95 surcharge if you go through your checking account and $35 if you use a credit/debit card. Just an FYI .
I was paying $775 with water /gas /trash included. They're raising the rent to $810.. but to me this place is not worth it. So with that being said I'm not renewing my lease.
It's a cool starter apartment.. but uhh definitely not home for me!
Giving this apartment a 1 star is being nice. This place is the ABSOLUTE WORST ! DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT MOVE HERE !! My husband and I had just gotten married and were looking for an inexpensive place to move into as our first place together. HUGE HUGE MISTAKE. The day we were scheduled to move in, the unit that was assigned to us had completely flood (should have took the sign there) so they moved us to another one. That one came with broken nobs, and a HUGE crack in the front window glass., which took them almost a month to fix. There is a LAUNDRY list of things wrong with this place but the MAIN THING IS IT IS ROACH INFESTED!!!!!!!! ROACHES EVERYWHERE. We are clean people but it doesn't matter. Roaches in the clothes, bed, sink, cabinets, bathroom, tub, CLOSET especially, the kitchen floor is the WORST because they breed so fast so its just baby ones all over. JUST EVERYWHERE. I went to go to work and a roach crawled out of my purse that I placed high up because they just get into everything. DIDNT WORK we bug bombed the place over 10 times and nothing helps and the front office just said "bug bomb wont kill them" I mean what kind of bugs yall really got living here that fumes wont kill them ! The pest guy half ass does his job and the front office wont take responsibility for the cracks in the walls and the poor installation. We had to clean out EVERYTHING other than our bed and tv and a part of our clothes in storage bins and put the rest in storage because the roaches kept getting into everything no matter how much we cleaned ! They painted over the bathtub so it eventually started to peel up and all you see is FUNGUS ! nasty old spots from lord knows how many people have had their feet and fungus all over it. We put in a work order that they "lost on their desk". The maintenance guy broke into our apartment , made our alarm go off we had to leave work and he came in , looked around and left. No notice nothing. . The trash will be PILLED out outside of the bin for DAYSS ! its just the worst place you could ever live in. DO NOT DO IT. not worth it AT ALL ! I really could go on for days, but its just a horrible establishment and I hope it eventually gets shut down for endangering peoples health and overall being a terrible place to live.
Balcony over my patio was collapsing , so I called emergency maintenance , they didn't come to the next day only because I called them twice the next day telling them that the balcony fell even more during the night. I guess this wasn't a emergency to them.
Roaches, spiders, and other pests.. maintenance won't fix anything, painted over dirty walls and tubs, speaking of tubs the paint chips very bad in the tubs so if you have children it is not safe, vents are dusty beyond measure you will need a humidifier or an asthma pump, either or, loud music late night, I could go on and on. Cannot wait to move, will definitely NOT renew this lease
Been here since May 2016 love the diversity of this complex when we were looking at places I read the every review and was very skeptical because of the bad reviews for silver oak but we chose to move here anyway. When we first moved in here there were a few issues with our apartment dishwasher did not work stove and fridge are outdated along with the cabinets . Except for one maintenance guy they are awesome and very prompt about fixing things like our dishwasher we got a brand new one just because the door did not latch , the people who live above us has a leak I told the office that there is water leaking into our apartment maintenance came within an hour to investigate the issue and the fixed it . Office staff is really nice and friendly and I give the property manager a huge shout out for all BS he has to deal with . I won't highly recommend silver oak but would definitely recommend it for someone just starting out ! Happy apartment hunting .
Ive been living here since July 2016. My experience has been decent but what do really expect from an apartment.when first moving in i had a minor bug issue but remember this is Ga! My air condition went out and they hopped to immediately. The office staff is awesome. The trash area is a mess but thats due to residence. the apartment complex cleans it as soon as they can but it really happens on weekends round hoildays . This complex is very full ppl coming from all over, cleanliness is not everyones thing but if you do your job in doing the right thing this will be the best place for you. The price is affordable I love my home!!!
I moved into a bedbug and roach infested apartment on Dec 16, 2016. The apartment's stove plug fell completely out and I was unable to cook the 1st 2 weeks . Almost everywhere i step in the bed rooms the floor squeaks. The bathroom sink leaked all ove my things causing me to have to throw them away (they refused to compesate for the bugs or lost items). The pest control guy was a complete ass and threaten bit to do my apartment . Whoever painted the apartment half did it.The apartment is not too bad if don't count the pathetic office staff and Chris is no real manager.
I have lived here for two years and I honestly haven't had any major issues. If there is an issue with the apartment that requires the maintenance staff it is taken care of almost immediately. The entire staff for this property has been very friendly and helpful the entire time. From time to time the area gets littered (there are a lot of children in the community that throw whatever they have out where ever they are; especially in the Summer). The trash area gets loaded with trash and trash bags when people don't follow the directions to put in the compactor. All in all if you pay your rent on time and avoid being a nuisance it's a great place to live for a very reasonable price.
