A few of the most wonderful moments of my life, thus far, were spent at Shoji. If you've got the time, it is absolutely worth relaxing in the loft for a night or two. I guarantee you will love this experience.

Beautiful setting. The hot tub are private and serene. The massage was one of the best I've experienced. We didn't stay overnight but really enjoyed our 3-4 hours of pampering!

It's too bad this place can't get their payment system in order. My first visit was a gift and included a special 2 hour tub time for local residents. It took them having to call the gift giver before they would honor the package. I had to wait as they finally agreed to what they sold us. Then my fiance was charged twice and had to get the charge removed from his credit card. Another hassle. My second visit less than a year later The place was packed with so many people that it was anything but relaxing. They were so overbooked I had to stand in line for the showers, the hot tub, and the massage. It felt more like an airport than a spa. When I went to check out, no one was at the front desk. Again I waited and waited and finally left since it was a gift again and I assumed it was paid for. The next day there is a voicemail accusing me of walking out on the bill! Like anyone is going to walk out on a $200 spa package!?! I call and a rude woman says she has a credit card on file (yeah you do!) And she will charge it I give up on this place. I wanted to love it, but they just lost a customer.

My friends and I booked a room at Shoji spa & lodge this summer while we were on our trip. To be honest we were nervous about how the place was going to be and all but when we got there we were well taken care of. We were driving from the myrtle beach so we were an hour late for our spa appointment but the owner was understanding about it and she changed our appointment without hesitation. When we got there the guy that was working at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming. We absolutely fell in love with the place. our rooms were clean and organized also, we had everything we needed in the kitchen. The place was just absolutely beautiful and peaceful. We ended up extending a day and loved it. I rarely write review but this place seriously deserves it. I was very very pleased with how friendly they were and how nicely they took care of us.

My husband and I booked a "treat yo self" day with shoji. Specifically we got the sweet retreat package. The staff were very knowledgeable and accommodating as it was our first time at a spa and getting messages. It was an amazing experience, and we enjoyed it so much we have recommended it to many of our friends.

Had my first Shoji experience today, and I definitely left there a loyal costumer. I did the 1 hour hot tub soak (which is actually $42, not $100 as another review had stated). I was greeted by a really friendly staff member immediately when I walked in. She was very helpful and made me feel right at home. The shower beforehand was very cozy and the bath products were divine. I absolutely loved the private hot tub setting. I had one of the lower tubs, which is accessed via a very short trail. I love LOVE the natural, wooded setting. The hut tub houses are incredible and very private. I left feeling very relaxed and happy. I just wish I could remember the name of the staff person who assisted me today, because she was very kind and professional.

There is no Japanese theme what so ever to the atmosphere of this establishment. We booked 2 night with the massage for 2 and the hot tub, sauna, cold plunge pkg. We stayed on a Monday night and Tuesday night, which they are closed on Tuesday so there were NO services or staff available to us. Our credit card was charged PRIOR to our arrival for the amount agreed to over the phone with A STAFF ON SITE. It was NOT a third party. 6 days AFTER we returned home, we received a phone call that they had noticed an "ERROR IN THEIR BILLING" and that they didn't charge us the proper amount. They would be ADDING EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS to our credit card. WELL OVER $1200.00 for something that WAS NOT WORTH IT! And how do you wait 6 days to call when it was CLEARLY YOUR ERROR! We stayed at the Grand Bohemian Hotel the Sunday prior. SOOOOOOOO worth it. They have everything on site you need. A spa, restaurant etc. WE WILL NEVER EVER COME TO SHOJI AGAIN! We will also let our friends know who were very interested in coming, NOT TO COME!

Well my first night at Shoji Retreat started pretty good but was awoke by a loud banging and then periodically heard people coming in and out of the door to our room. It turns out that the staff shares an entrance with the guests in the studio and the entrance is open to the room, so it felt very invasive and uncomfortable. Also we had no hot water for hours which is apparently a recurring issue which had not been addressed.

The staff was nice enough to offer a complimentary tub as compensation or a 10% discount. That was ok but not great in my opinion but I still would have come back out recommended the place if not for the very disappointing experience I had in the massage spa.

The place looks like someone threw together a spa in their basement. There are bare concrete floors with cheap rugs and tacky decor. The massage therapist Amanda with the very first touch went across my spine. It was cold in the room and she didn't turn on the table warmer. There was bright light coming in through a window she didn't close until I mentioned it. She also seemed to be getting over a cold and was mouth breathing and sniffing through the whole massage. When I went to tell the manager about my experience she told me I had been disturbing her staff and very rude for two days and she'd had enough of me. She tried to make me go outside in the cold in a robe so that my complaints didn't disturb her other guests. When I told her I would like to be inside while we finish talking she threatened to call the police on me! Unbelievably poor customer service and management. Facilities are sub-par for the price. I've never heard of a spa with such lousy plumbing. This place has a nice concept and such, but seems like they cut corners everywhere they can. I'll never go back.

We ended up at Shoji Spa a bit spontaneously, we passed a sign in downtown Asheville, and it was FREEZING and snowing - so we thought it would be the best end to a great weekend. They could provide the times that we needed on Sunday and the staff was amazing. We had Jane & Amanda for our Winter Wintermint treatment. The hot tub was amazing, very private but immersed into the mountains.

The bathrooms and shower areas were amazing, I'm obsessed with the products and the shower heads! I will DEFINITELY be returning!!

I really like this place. I purchased a hot tub package for myself as a birthday present, which included a private hot tub, sauna, and cold plunge. The woman at the front desk was very nice, very accommodating, and very professional, she is a great asset to Shoji. The setting is gorgeous, and the atmosphere is very well maintained. It really is a nice experience.

Slightly Above Mediocre - We assumed "all inclusive" meant no worries to bring anything, but the toilet paper ran out, could not provide a hair comb, and you'd have to pay for snacks. We were there for about 2 1/2 hours. For a package to be almost $400 with tip, we expected to feel more satisfied and relaxed. Overall not impressed to return. Ending on a positive note, the massage therapists are very nice and professional.
