Love this place. Great atmosphere and a wide selection of food. Good music and the views are stellar. Also love you can grab a drink and walk by the water if there's a wait for a table!
Will probably go out of business soon ! I'd suggest you take your money elsewhere. Today is December 23rd 2017. Within a year, the place will be bought over by someone else who is actually interested in running a restaurant.
The whole setup of the restaurant was designed by someone who couldn't care less about customers.
The host at the tiki-bar said "go ahead" and then spoke into her intercom "Sending two your way". As we stood waiting at the next entrance, three waiters/hostess walked by avoiding eye contact while we were trying to figure out if we could get a table. One young lady told us "you can have any empty table with a basket". We walked by and saw a table with a pink basket holding the menus. Another waitress walked by and said "I am gonna let you sit even though you are supposed to wait for me to seat you" and then walked away. We were befuddled. The actual waiter came by and said "Even though you swung by and took this table, I am gonna serve you". You can only overlook someone patronizing you so much. Turns out their brilliant scheme was that tables with black baskets were first-come, first-serve. The pink tables were pager based. Their scheme is so brilliant that even their own staff have trouble following it. I don't blame the wait staff. When you design your restaurant with a $29 entree on the lunch menu but then race to the bottom how low you can pay your wait staff, customer service is not on your top 10 list.
Sharky's is a restaurant located directly on Venice Beach in an undeveloped area. You can walk the beach for miles, have a delicious dinner and drinks, and watch the sunset over the Gulf. The fishing pier is free to walk or fish and there is a bait and tackle store on the pier. I will be visiting here again soon. The vibe is relaxing and chill. There are walking trails nearby.
Great bread basket sampler. We love the view and some of the staff is very friendly. It's a nice hidden gem in this older town. We only have gone during the lunchtime hours. They have an upscale eatery above we would like to try out at suppertime.
Atmosphere was very nice. Fabio our waiter was very helpful and polite. We had the 3 course meals which were very bland. They were the chicken dish and the steak and shrimp dish. Overall a nice evening out with friends.
Fab ambience. Great view. Good food. Nice staff. Way better and more than you can expect in a "tourist" restaurant. Highly recommend.
Sharky's is a fun place to dine. It is a little overpriced, but you're paying for the atmosphere and the amazing view! We love being there at sunset. The food is pretty good. We love the fish tacos and my favorite lunch item is the chicken sandwich with pineapple and BBQ sauce (not sure what it's called). The fish is so amazing grilled.
I have lived in Florida for over several years now and up until last week I had never been to Sharky's restaurant. Now that I have I don't think I would go back to eat there. The food was so flavorless and overpriced, I wanted to say something but my husband was opposed to the idea so I said fine we just won't be back. I wanted them to be aware of how horrible our meal was and for the price I really wanted go off. There mashed potatoes are horrible, the shrimp was horrible. The service was not the best either, there were two different waitresses, one telling her life story about her toddler so that customers can feel bad for her then the other wanted to bring the check when we had just got our horrible meal. Considering the view this place really needs to step up it's game to be charging the prices they do and with such a great location they could really do big things, but they need to make a lot of changes. Not to mention we ate inside big mistake, it is so outdated and dirty I felt like I needed to shower immediately. Would have rather stayed in the pier area for burgers and drinks outside.
It was OK, but nothing I would recommend. The wait (outside in serious heat) is long, the food was mediocre, and the prices were high. Our waiter was clearly not in the mood to wait on us, as we saw two other waitresses telling customers about the specials, and being generally pleasant, while our waiter did not tell us one thing, and he was kinda snotty when I asked if the fish & Chips was with french fries or potato chips. His answer was "We aren't in Europe", as if that tells the story, but I'd been in a local restaurant last week, who bragged about how their fish & Chips came with home made chips, so I don't think being a FL restaurant = Fries, automatically.
I ordered the fish & chips (fries), and my fish was bland, with zero salt on the fries. Hubby had a roll-up sandwich, and loved it, but I tried a bite, and it was not great in my opinion. Taste is in the eye of the beholder, I guess.
If you don't mind the heat, and can even find the place (misleading signs, and poor directions from the employees will get you a tour of the entire premises before you find your way in), I hope you get a different waiter, and perhaps your food will be better. Mine was not worth the price paid.
Waterfront prices, but not a great view from inside. Just other customers, and umbrellas from those willing to sit out in the heat.
Called to make reservation, and they said they stop taking reservations at 4pm. Called to see what the wait was on the way here, and we were told no wait. Got here, and told the wait was 2 hours. Food is good, but not worth the wait. If you wanna fish first, put your name in and go to pier. Wait won't seem as long.
The setting is incomparable looking out over the to the gulf. The menu is surprisingly varied. I had Cobia for the first time and it was delicious. Our server, Kevin, did his duties just right. What was most surprising, the bill was very reasonable.
Great view, good food. The view is really nice especially at sunset. I had sushi to start and the portion was generous and tasty. The scallops were very good but$36 for for scallops is even Beyond New York prices.
First time eating here and I'd love to go again! I had the hog fish and it was seriously amazing! It was light and full of flavour!
The staff were very busy but kept their cool and we're very kind to us.
Highly suggest that if anyone is thinking of trying Sharky's then to read this and take the plunge! It's worth every penny!
Location is good. Service is good. Live music when I was there on Tuesday evening was good. Place is a dive seriously overdue for a thorough clean and fresh paint. The 'walk the plank' entree which they consider one of their signature meals was bland to the point of having no flavor at all. Seemed like a waste of good piece of fish.
