Food not fresh, foreign bodies in our calamari. Caesar dressing awful, fries gross, crab roll passable. I’d give this place a wide berth or just come for drinks.

Great views of the bay and excellent food. Oysters some of the freshest and nicest I’ve eaten..

Thanksgiving dinner with ocean view! We out-ed for the dinner versus the buffet and Alex and Michael took very good care of us. The food was very tasty for such a large crowd!

Valet service was swamped but the Plaza is a 1st class hotel, rivaling the Ritz in Half Moon Bay.

Excellent quality, service, and atmosphere. Semi-casual/dressy restaurant or completely casual bar and grill all under the heading of Schooner's Bar and Grill, which is located on the Lower Lobby of the very beautiful and refined Monterey Plaza Hotel, Cannery Row. The views of the bay are spectacular as the restaurant sits perched over the ocean. A drink and appetizers at happy hour are always great; now place it in a sunny courtyard overlooking the ocean complimented by the sounds of sea lions and sights of cavorting otters. Pretty Special!
The food is spectacular in its own and deserves equal time. Every flavor and texture were thoughtful and balanced. Lobster Bisque deep and rich with recognizable spoonfuls of tender Lobster. Clam Chowder decadent and mild highlighted with slices of fingerling potatoes changed the texture of a sometimes mushy mouthful to something fresh. Salmon grilled remained moist and flavorful, not fishy. Friend chicken , perfectly done, on a fluffy mound of mashed potatoes with a kiss of garlic instead of the usual punch. A Juicy, tender, explosion of intense flavor from the filet mignon made my eyes roll in pleasure. All sides paired perfectly, making every bit delightful.
The warm bread and lightly salted butter was a beautiful surprise, as was the generosity of the replenishment.
The staff was friendly and efficient making the whole package not just memorable, or mentionable, and it was, but remarkable and more than worthy of a return. ✨

Awesome restaurant. Amazing views out over the bay. Stayed at the Monterey Plaza Hotel and ate dinner and breakfast at Schooners during our stay.

Booked a table for Schooners tonight , we were shown to our table and as we are currently on our honeymoon we were very excited by the view. After perusing the menu and the the wine list we happily requested a bottle of wine for our table. The server asked us for ID, we are both from the UK, I am 32 and my wife 29, well above the legal drinking age. I had taken my ID out with me in my wallet but my wife had not had a need to take her purse as we had been out since the morning. Very disappointingly the server and Manager said that although I had given ID my wife also needed ID. At this point the server asked us to pay for the sparkling water we had ordered at the start of the dinner, after refusing to serve us a bottle of wine we decided we would not want to dine at this restaurant and I requested we should not have to pay for the water. After discussing this with the manager we were allowed to leave on our honeymoon, embarrassed, disappointed, but without paying for the water. We would have happily spent $200+ on this meal and were super surprised that more could not have been done to accommodate us- shame on you Schooners for trying to ruin our night!

Love this fun and charming restaurant right over the water! We had the most incredible pink sunset the last time we were there, and had fun spotting sea lions and otters in the ocean. As for the food, had the tastiest crab legs ever, and loved the halibut!!

I've been here several times and it is hands down the best dining experience in the area. 5 star food and service without the price. Hotel is great too. Can't wait to come back next year!

Great brunch. Friendly service, we were seated promptly even though it was a holiday weekend, and the food was perfect. Really amazing view of the bay as well.

The service is good. Be prepared to wait for about 30min to an hr during busy hours. Otherwise, this is a wonderful place to dine and just relax. Their dessert is the bomb! It tasted so good! And it's not too sweet.

Dinner there on the 28th of December. Food and drinks were good albeit a little crowded for 6 persons. Tables were crowded. I recommend making dinner reservations for larger parties in another venue. This place is designed for small parties. Service was stellar. Mike P. was best of the best. Responsive, prompt and accommodating.

THE BEST SERVICE! Made reservations for 6:15 and was promptly seated. Within 10-15 minutes of being seated, Restaurant Manager, Colleen, offered a booth with a view. BONUS! Our waiter was very attentive and had great recommendations. We were going to order a side and he suggested that we would not need it with all the food we ordered. That was a very helpful suggestion. We couldn't even finish our dinner! The portions are generous. They are definitely worth the money. You will not be disappointed dining here!
