I have only been here at night on the weekends but the scene is always lively. The crowd is younger at those times 21 to 30, but there is attraction to all age groups as the upstairs has a billiards room and a more accessible bar with areas to sit and lounge.
Great food (loved the steak) and friendly staff. We were there on a rather loud night with a party going on while we were finished our dessert so I guess that’s probably not very representative for the place overall.
Came here on a Saturday around 6pm. Place was pretty much dead, was good because I could actually use one of the 4 pool tables ($15/hour for a table). I'm curious how it gets at night.
Decent place to grab a drink and snack. Very spacious, good for groups.
I came here tonight and drove all the way to New Jersey. And I was racially profiled. I payed 20 buck to get in and this other black kid I guess snuck in and I paid to get in and some young girl said it was me. When I tried to tell them it wasn’t me they said, they said it want me. I’m so upset. I’ve never been racially profiled before but I was disrespected tonight being one the only African American in there. If you are of any ethnicity, but Caucasian do not go here these people need cultural training. It’s discguating to get treated like this in 2017. I’m thinking of solving this legally.
I've usually come here on quieter evenings and I have never been disappointed. The most recent time I came here I got a lobster roll with a friend as well as a couple cups of chowder and some beers. Service was quick and we sat at the bar. Bartender had good recommendations on beers as well as whiskey. Food was very good, the roll was a bit burnt on one-side but otherwise the meal was perfect.
The steak is yummy! I also love the cheese burgers, and the bun, which it is on(really). I'm not usually a lover of fries, but their fries are very good! Restaurant during day, bar/club atmosphere Fridays and Saturdays.
A great choice for a stop on St Patrick's weekend. This place screams Irish Pub. Def worth a visit. Follow my IG @t_lovesfood for more delights 😁
Scholars American Bistro and Cocktail Lounge is about 4 blocks away from my office in Boston MAs Fashion District. The Menu is definitely different from most other Argentinian restaurants. I ordered 5 main dishesone was a 5 star and the others were a 4 star. The service was above average. I will go there again, however it wont be my first choice.
Fine, good enough all around. They have ~15 beers on tap, with a good variety, along with a full bar. We reserved a couple pool tables for a work gathering of 20 people and they had decent platters for us to choose from. Service was average, the food was average, the decor and space is interesting and fun. I'd be happy to go back if a friend invited me.
Have been here a handful of times over the year, but recently went for lunch. Was blown away by the quality of the Chicken Caesar Salad that I had there. Normally, I think of Scholars as more a place to just grab a drink, but I was really impressed by the food there for lunch as well. Will be back in the near future to try other things on the menu!
One of my favorite downtown bars. I like that this bar has two levels with different atmospheres. The upstairs has a small bar and pool tables you can rent by the hour, if you just want to hang out. On the other hand, the main floor is a little more lively and has a decent dance floor with good music.
