This has authentic German food and the aviance is great too. The restaurant has German tap beer which was great. Probably not a bad idea to get reservations although we didn't have any and they sat us right away!!!! There is a bar as well as restaurant seating

The restaurant plays on the German theme with decor and costumed wait staff. It's a fun experience. I've been a handful of times but the star of the menu you need to order 24 hours in advance- the pork shank. It's a huge plate and a culinary experience. Your plate arrives with a large, hungry man portion of meat that has been slow roasted to perfectly crackle the skin and exterior. It's also well seasoned so that every bite and delightfully cracklin morsels are pure eating pleasure. You can't find this dish on any other menu in the area!

Absolutely the best German cuisine around-Friends we have brought here compare their meal to how their mother used to cook!
Recommend the german potato soup and the dinner for two, a sampler of their best!
You get the quality you paid for, assure me!

Always a delicious experience. Wonderful food and wonderful servers. Great place to come if you like a variety of alcoholic beverages. I do recommend calling for reservations. They have great indoor and outdoor seating. I've been coming for 5 years and never have had a negative experience.

Had a great time in the Restaurant, food was very good, excellent selection of imported craft beers, staff was efficient and I thought funny. The owner was very kind and you can tell he takes great pride being there just to talk with the customers (A very seldom seen thing today). They also have a 5L GLASS you can get of beer, was very good and fun.

My husband and I love the food here, any time we drive through Hagerstown during our travels we just have to stop here. The quality and freshness of the food is great! Very authentic, Clean and Family Friendly atmosphere. Please note that the pork shank meal does require 24 hour notice, if you know you want it (and it's delicious) be sure to call ahead.

Absolutely incredible food here. Waitstaff is very polite and usually attentive. My partner who has eaten a lot of Bavarian/German food says this is the best he has ever had. It is more upscale, but not suit and tie. Just don't recommend going in in ripped up jeans and a t-shirt.

You cannot go without planning to eat dessert. After your meal, they bring out a platter with all their daily desserts and they are just TOO GOOD.

I ordered a chicken in vermouth sauce (w/mushrooms) and spatzel that was out of this world. Everybody else said theirs was very good too. We went during a lunch break of a conference we attended. Their service was pretty slow though, albeit quite pleasant, and although I'd definitely eat there again, I'm not sure it's a wise idea to eat there at lunch time when you have a limited amount of time. We had an hour and it was not enough time. (it was right across from the library where our conference was).
