Had similar experience on the surfliner from Burbank to Goleta re:wifi was miserable. Had to end up turning it off and using cell service. Tip: download your movies first. Pro: power plugs at most seats in coach.

I'm genuinely appalled by the service of this company. I've been riding with Amtrak on and off my entire life. I'm 23 years old. Recently I became a student at SBCC and have used Amtrak to commute from Camarillo to the college. No big deal, right? Wrong. Apparently they've changed their scheduling and appear to no longer have a concept of time management. Every train is late. One week it was late by an hour and I almost missed an exam. Mind you, I take the earliest possible train to make sure I have an hour before class. Nope. Amtrak runs on their own schedule. It's not like there is traffic, just terrible staff.

Now apparently, without notice online, they have to do work on the tracks and I now need to take a bus and then take a train. If I had wanted to take a bus to Santa Barbara, I would have purchased bus tickets. When I tried to get more information the woman in the building was completely dismissive and rude to me.

Normally I do not leave negative reviews. This is my first negative review ever. And hopefully it will be my last.

Amtrak needs to get their acts together. I'll except being late and road work on the tracks, but if I walk up to someone and say "excuse me ma'am" in a polite voice and just get "what do you want?" Yelled at me, then I'll take my business elsewhere. I spend about $204 every month on this service and I don't spend that money so someone can be rude to me when I need information about why the train is no longer running.

Lastly, if the company is doing road work, then notification beyond a tiny sign on the service desk in a DIFFERENT city than the one I live in. Likehow about a text alert? Or when you purchase tickets there is a notification? Or even how about it's on the website?

Taking the train from LA is a great way to travel to Santa Barbara, and this train station is quaint and enjoyable. It's also great that it's in the middle of town.

Ok, so i had a good time on Amtrak going from Portland to Santa Barbara. I had to order a new segment (train trip out of 8 segments) because i felt i had to spend sometime watching the beach. I had already ordered my new segment over the phone. I went to pick it up at Santa Barbara Station. The ladies where rude. I asked for a copy, nothing else. They said no. I asked for a supervisor, they said the supervisor was busy. Because i mentioned that a worker was being absurd and rude, they both took each others side - they actually protect each other and refuse service. Are u kidding me? Just give me my segment. that's all. But instead, they say that their supervisor was gone for the day and that they are too busy to help he with a copy. Look, these employees cover each other. and as it appears, if you ever tell one employee how rude they are, they'll respond by calling they cops (which is ridiculous, and or walk away, into their other office desk). I didn't like what they did, and it was absurd. Look luck for those seeking a ticket.

Unbelievably bad experience on amtrak, they told me the train had wifi, it only did in business class,they moved me three times in coach, had to move my bags each time, then they could not figure out how to upgrade my ticket, conducters said call customer service, customer service said only the conductor

I found the conductor to complain, this fool named gubbins, who threatened to kick me off the train for complaining about the situatuon

Two hours into the trip, still no wifi, and no one seems to know what they are doing, including staff members Michael and Angelina, as well as the short hispanic woman in business class, none were able to upgrade my ticket

The arrogance of Gubbins to threaten to kick me off the train because his staff was imcompetent and someone polotely complained about it, it way over the top crappy service

Train is a great no-hassle way to get to this sunny vacation destination. Surfliner from SLO and LA, overnight Starlight from as far north as Seattle. Although small, the staff are wonderful and architecture beautiful. Go by train!
