Very cozy place, ideal for a getaway visit of sightseeing. Everyone is very friendly.

Clean place. Friendly staff that would leave you alone, just how it suppose to be. Good view of mountain in the back. Not so far away from a cute little town with beach and lot of things to do across the express way. This hotel is not luxurious but very sufficient.

In a pinch, like we were, this will do for somewhere to sleep & shower. Steep stairs & no elevator, lots of 101 traffic noise & not squeaky clean. Funky but relatively close to Carpinteria.

Had a great stay at SandyLand. The staff was fun and friendly. The grounds and rooms were clean. Would and did go back again

A good budget motel. Nice facilities for the price. But rooms right next to freeway is a problem.

I booked a room for my family to stay visiting from SF area. The room was nice, however, the people that were hanging around the hotel were trash!
There was a drunk guy, smoking and spouting off from the balcony, gangster looking guys, talking on the phone loudly and some white trash tweaker types too out and about late at night. Some of the other room guests were rude, disrespectful and entitled, claiming the area as their own with disregard for the comfort of others. It made my family nervous to leave the room!
One of said rude guests called our room in an attempt to reprimanded us for removing his clothes from the dryer. We waited, giving him ample time to claim his clothing, before removing his items to dry ours. He saw that we were using the washer, and common sense and etiquette would tell you to set a timer and get your things in a timely manner so that other's can use the facilities Very frustrating!
The management should really do something about these folks, because the room was nice and the pool was relaxing, and the location is convenient.response / report this review -

Consistently good, but I was told they have a new cleaning service. They miss a few details. You have to go to the office for what they forgot.

Room was clean, but had a slight old smoke smell that lingered in the walls. Right next to the freeway, so hard to sleep at night. But the room was a decent size and bed was pretty comfy.

The guy was really rude to us. They actually refused us service at midnight as the guy took offense with how my friend signed the documents. It was a shame to stand on such silly principle as feeling disrespected or whatever nonsense this guy felt and used his authority to deny us a place to stay after a long weekend. Thank god there are still kind people out there, can't say the staff acted in a manner. But it's sad when people stand on such silly principle they can't lend a helping hand. Isn't that the point of life? To be human not leave people stranded on the street after they paid for a room because you are upset that your first customer didn't give you the respect you are looking for after they've been traveling all day. So hospitable

Do not recommend! If you could pay the extra somewhere else you should! They'll try to charge you for every little thing. Horrible place
