Great fun for the family..So much to do never bored. Food was awesome! They had friendliest staff that go out of their way to please you and the kids..
Definitely not as nice as hotel breakers. Had to change rooms do to lack of cleanliness. Its Pretty far from the park entrance. Cedar point didn't do well either. Half the rides were down all day on a busy Saturday. Got to go on 5 coasters in 10 hours.
Within walking distance to cedar point. Shuttles are provided also. Beautiful location on the lake. Helpful and friendly front desk staff. Affordable 2 room suite. Great for families.
The price wasn't terrible, and we did get into the park an hour early. This place could use some updates for sure, but if they do, there will be more money to pay. I love how they have a non-smoking policy but, there was smell of smoke in the hallway, and one of the workers told us it was the employees that were smoking, and to make sure to complain, which I did nice! I would stay again though, we only slept there. Nice to be on-site of Cedar Point and the shuttle was handy.
This hotel is only a few bucks less than Hotel Breakers but you might as well be staying in a different dimension! We were so happy with our night at Breakers that we wanted to stay another night but all they had were rooms at Sandcastle. The differences were even more starkly apparent because our original booking we were torn between Breakers and Sandcastle (seemed very similar) but decided to try Breakers, and now we were seeing both back-to-back. The beds were the worst I have ever slept in at a hotel (motels excluded) - and each of the three beds (2 queen, one fold-out) were bad in different ways! One was thin, one hard as cardboard, and one so soft you got lost in it! The walk to the park entrance was a good 15 minutes of brisk walking (there is a shuttle, but you have to call for it). The corridors were partially outside and were steaming hot in the sun. The inside was musty and dank smelling. The rooms were very outdated and seemed old/dirty. No restaurants or activities to speak of. If we had only stayed here and not at each hotel I would never take my family back to Cedar Point for an overnight stay - and I'd tell anyone who would listen the same thing! This place is as bad as Breakers is GREAT. The breakfast (expensive) buffet at the adjacent conference hall "restaurant" was the worst I have had in recent memory - definitely worse than the free continental breakfast you get at most hotels.
Rooms were dated but yet very accommodating for the stay. Overall the property could use a upgrade.
Tampon wrappers on floor in room bathroom, dirt on walls, floor and doors. Room smells horribly of mold. Trash left by previous guests still in the room, empty soap boxes etc. Shower curtain has brown stains. Coffee maker broken. This place is a joke. Stay somewhere else. You might at least get a clean room and a cup of coffee.
The rooms are ugly and the location is horrible. Breaker hotel and the Marrietta and lodge hotels are located right at an entrance to cedar point, but breaker hotel is a long walk from the closest entrance, which is not so great at night.
If you don't want to walk, you can wait 20-30 minutes for a shuttle if you're up for that.
Outside the hotel is a pool, which is great especially when it's empty. There's also the lake, but there is no swimming allowed (who would wanna swim in lake Erie anyways) and walking isn't a good a idea either because there a birds and feathers completely covering the sand.
All in all, I would not return. Maybe if cedar point would open up an entrance closer to sandcastle, then it would be better.
Beautiful hotel! The pool area outside also has a hot tub and you're right on the beach! Having the beach there can be really nice on those overly busy seasons when the pool is full.
Worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I'm considering going to sleep in my truck. The rooms smells old and musty. Everything is outdated. The screened in balcony is a joke and is full of bugs. The bed feels like I'm sleeping on the floor. Hard as as rock very uncomfortable. I would expect all these things from a motel 6 or a hotel off the side of the road. But not from a hotel that was over $300 a night. Totally unacceptable and a rip off!! I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy!!
