We took the train to pass some time. It would have been nice to enjoy the scenery and not just some awful audio. We don't need Christmas songs. We also don't need fake bird sounds in a park. People with sensory issues may want to check ahead and see if they can provide a ride without it.

All in all a good day to go in Dec. not crowded until the zoo lights came on for the holiday in the park. Good display of festive lights. I think light show would have been more enjoyable to Christmas music. Exhibits seemed to be under some construction a bit more than expected. Lots of bird exhibits. Pricey to eat or drink inside. Entry was about what I would expect for a zoo. Enjoyable visit. Friendly enough and helpful staff.

It’s been about 10 years since I have visited the zoo and although the admission price is more than I recall, they have definitely made a LOT of improvements. I didn’t even recognize the place!

The giraffe exhibit is really cool because you can now walk onto a deck that is as tall as the giraffes and you can actually feed them. Even if you don’t pay extra to feed them, you are able to walk on the deck and see them face to face – it was AWESOME!

The Lory exhibit is also pretty cool. You walk into this aviary and if you pay a couple of bucks, you can feed the birds – they will actually land on your shoulders and arms to eat. One in our group didn’t have any food but 3 or 4 of the birds landed on him as soon as he walked in the gate for some reason.

Parking is the same as it always has been – kind of tough to park in the lot in Brack Park, but don’t forget there is parking under the highway on the opposite side of the zoo.

Signage could be improved – it’s hard to find your way to the exit when you are leaving.

Always a fun time at the SA Zoo. The different events they do each year are always fun (Zoo Boo, Zoo Lights) as well as different themes each year (one year was BugMania). Is it expensive? It depends on what you get while you are there visiting. I go at least once or twice a year. If you keep track of offers via coupons they generally offer specials via savings apps or Social Media. The SA Zoo definitely offers a variety of animals to see in a unique setting. Definitely worth the price of the ticket a few times a year for the family.

A small but very nice zoo. Lots of shade and a good variety of exhibits. I do wish there were better labels on some of the exhibits, especially in some of the indoor snake and reptile exhibits. I attended zoo lights in 2017, it was pretty nice and not too packed. Just make sure to go early since there can be long lines. I would definitely recommend the membership though, two visits pays for itself.

We love this zoo. I can come here with my 3 year old twins for an hour or stay for the day. They know their way around, usually want to head straight for the hippopotamus and the giraffes, and we all really enjoy the special family events (like ZooBoo). Seriously, we love this place so much I want The boys to go to the zoo school next year! Highly recommend getting the membership and enjoying the train ride whenever you can. ❤

This is a really fabulous zoo, and they are doing great work. Many of the exhibits are gorgeous. Most of the staff we talked to were friendly. The Beastro Cafe was tasty and clean. I'm docking one star only because several of the cat exhibits really did seem much too small for the species and had no noticeable enrichment (though we might have been on an off day).

My favorite zoo I think. I really like all the fish in the various exhibits. The hippo exhibit is so fun to watch. The zoo employees are super friendly and they do a tremendous job keeping it clean. The bird exhibit where you can feed them sugar water is a great time for photos with your group. Great job. Free parking too!

My family and I had a great day at the zoo. Here at the San Antonio zoo they have a lot of active and we'll cared for animals. My favourite exhibit was the reptiles. We also had a chance to speak with one of the park associates and he gave us some very positive feed back and answered all of our questions. Over all it was a fantastic experience.

Fun learning experience. There is a toddler area and a musical area for kids with sand and a stream to have a little beach experience. The kids really enjoyed it. The petting zoo was nice too still glad they kept it! Not much has changed over the years. My son loves the train ride after. It's perfect to let them know we're leaving. I give it stars for giving the kids exercise, knowledge, lots of places to rest, if it was worth the money, if us as parents had a great time, and the food. Since I did not try the food I cannot give it five stars.

My parents are members here so we all go and bring the kids with us too. We love it! The sort of new additions of the water play area and kids zones are excellent for younger ages to have more interactive play. We bring snacks and swimsuits to make it a day trip, and investing in the zoo cup, and popcorn buckets are well worth it if you go more than once!

We are members and it is very affordable. The exhibits are awesome and interactive. We go at least once a week. The staff are amazing and knowledgeable. I will say it gets crazy on weekends but my son and I love our day trips to the zoo with train rides. The train is fantastic.

I am a member of the zoo & simply love going. My children & grandchildren have all grown up going to the zoo. Excellent way to spend time with family, friends, or walk around alone enjoying the exhibits & reading the signage posted, learning as you go.
needs some sprucing up, I don't recall ever seeing the zoo looking as unkept as it was during my last visit March 19, 2017
Nonetheless, we enjoyed our visit to the zoo as always!

I went during Halloween weekend and had a great time. There was trick-or-treating and other fun fall festive decorations and activities. They also do lights in December. For an additional cost they offer giraffe feeding, carousel rides and a butterfly house. The staff is very passionate and knowledgeable if you have any questions about the animals. The animals seem to have enough space to stay happy.
