Super cool nonprofit bar that helps establish schools in less developed parts of the world. Beer selection is small but they are good beers and their moonshine is top notch and delicious. Plus you have to try their alcohol soaked fruits like pineapple and blueberries.

My favorite bar in the city. Amazing beers, service, and atmosphere. On top of all that it's a nonprofit organization that builds schools in third world countries. Come and you'll be hooked.

Great service, great beer, and solid bottle selection! They have an amazing tap that rotates constantly w great breweries like modern times , every, fieldwork, ballast point etc. This place knows what's up!

This is a great bar, that also gives to charity. Quirky atmosphere with great service. Great beer, mulled wine, and funky moonshine without being overpriced!

This place is definitely a to-each-his-own kind of establishment. Personally I am fine with the "rules" but I can understand how someone else might find them offensive. You are, after all, the customer, and you are paying for your drinks and food. I do like the social consciousness of the place but I also feel like they could do as much good for humanity without kicking people out of the bar who look at their cell phones.
Pro tip: Ask to sit upstairs. It's less crowded.response / report this review -

The beer here costs as much as at any bar in DC, and part of the profit goes to build schools around the world. It's a win-win proposition.
Also, "the rules" - no standing, no yelling, no cell phones - make for a pleasant atmosphere where you can actually have a conversation.
The kitchen has a limited selection, but what they make is good.
