This is a great place for those looking for a genuine Kalamazoo experience. Friendly service, cheap drinks, and a wide variety of local regulars from all walks of life.

False charges on credit card. Says I was at their place on two days ago Haven't been there in over a month (and yes, the charge from a month ago has posted).

I enjoyed myself considering there aren't any places in Kalamazoo for the LGBTQ community and Rugger's s Up& Under weren't afraid to open their arms to us speaks volumes!! Keep up the good work and I will continue to show appreciation! 🎆🎉😋

So trash, i jusy got done working, the food they serve you is most likely expired plus the have no enthusiasm for you being there. There ice has mold on it, the place is in shambles lets say that. Get your sht together heine

I was in the Boomerang's areafor live music twice in the last couple of months, and not one of our group had a pleasant experience either time.
I can understand mistakes and errors and human-ness, but to have ALL the people in a group have a negative experience means that it's a bigger problem than just an "oops" here and there.
From the worst cardboard-esque chicken 'tenders', which when finally discussed with a manager resulted in only one, non-acceptable resolution offered, to cold fries and a bad-attitude bartender to having to wipe down and clear one table of stacks of glasses that had become a repository for waste because the tables aren't cleared of empty glasses and trash, to the second time, having to clean two tables (after asking the bartender if someone could please do it and being pointed toward the spray bottle and towel!!) and then after waiting about an hour for our nicely stacked but completely in the way dinner baskets, dishes, and excess glasses to be cleared, I finally just grabbing a tray and cleared them so we could sit much more comfortably by giving us elbow room and removing the overpowering smell of ketchup to an overall apathetic vibe, way overpriced food and drinks to the lack of response from staff and the seriously long time it took for anything to happen just really made both experiences extremely negative. We wouldn't go back, except our friends play there, and we want to support them. It's too bad, and it cleared up my questions as to why there were so few peoplethere's not a lot that makes one want to return. That's too bad for a local business on a nice, busy corner with plenty of parking in the downtown area. It should be booming, but it's run down in all aspects. It's like a has-been, but doesn't seem like it has to be that way. Oh, haha, and nobody could give me the correct wifi password--not even the owner! I finally got it from someone, and while 'connected', there was no internet, so it wasn't worth the trouble anyway. All kinds of discombobulation and lack of coordination. Amazing they are still in business.it seems like it's on it's last legs. I've got to go there some other times, maybe, to get a better picture of the whole, and to give them another chancemaybe I'm not being fair, and I've only been there twice recently, but good service and good food should be pervasive at a restaurant. Period. Then you can grow, adding the extras of live music, fun events, and other community engagements, but until you get your foundation in place, it's just going to be a mess. And it appears as if this place's foundation is currently a pile of rubble. I hope it can be repaired as I have lots of good memories of the place, and it's sad to see the state it's currently in.
The experience was so completely disappointing, probably due to my overly high expectations based on prior experiences of years ago when I would frequent Up & Under and consistently had good service and good food.
The years have done the place no favors, it's run-down, the bathrooms were not nice, and the kicker of having to clean and clear our own tables, yet be expected to tip as if it were a service industry was just a bit too much. Then to add insult to injury, we never even got a "sorry" or a "thank you" of any kindit was like the fake icing on the cardboard cake.
I hope to see this place get it together and become an iconic Kalamazoo destination some day.response / report this review -

This place is a typical bar. On one side they have a bar and other side they have a dance floor (its open only on weekends). They have great selection of drinks as well as drink specials throughout the week. I was here on a saturday night and was expecting to be crowded on a dance night and there were hardly any people.

Great burger selection! And they're all awesome! Great beer selection, but some from the tap taste like caramel, so stick to bottles if you're getting domestic. Need to change their lines. Best spot in town to catch a soccer game, they have them all!
