Great food. Moderately priced for authentic bbq. The sides are great tasting too.
The food was good and reasonably priced! The atmosphere inside and outside was great! And the staff was VERY friendly!
Pretty good food.
However, the turkey and ribs were very salty and the girl doling out the sides thinks she's dealing from her own kitchen. She fills the pints of sides just under 3/4 full.
Other than that all was o.k. .
It's a little out of the way for most, but you can't help but love the original location for this great BBQ franchise. The people there seemed to love their job and their BBQ and we loved it also. We really loved the creamed corn and obviously the brisket and pork ribs. The sausage and Turkey were great, too. Will definitely come back next time were in SA.
BBQ is very much a matter of personal preference. While Rudy's isn't my favorite BBQ, it is consistently good and a convenient, local original. I wish they had some different sauces to choose from as I am not a fan of their original sauce.
Dynamite pork ribs. Sauce was excellent
Super friendly and helpful service. This place is a machine of good food. Also enjoyed the sausage. Buy more than you think you need because it will all be gone.
Brilliant food and great staff. I had the brisket which was good, but the sides were amazing. They gave me a sample of their creamed corn (which I usually hate with a vengeance) but it was amazing.
It's quite far out of the way. so make sure you can get back home. It took me a while to get a taxi to pick me up.
Very good barbecue in a very casual setting. I recommend the brisket, but the chicken, turkey and sausage are also good. The sides are good, but the creamed corn is incredible. They have beer and soft drinks on ice, fountain soft drinks and iced tea. You'll usually get a free sample of meat while you order, and that's how they get you. I often add to my order after tasting the sample. Barbecue is sold by weight, not portions.
Rudy's is great! They're a little pricey, but the food is delicious and worth it. Items to definitely get are the brisket, sausage links and the half chicken. Ribs are so-so, and unless you're really in the mood for ribs, I'd skip them. The beans and cream corn are awesome as well!
They are also very Veteran friendly so if you're active or former military, they'll give you a discount.
Whenever I'm visiting Texas this is my go-to BBQ place. The barbecue here is absolutely amazing I especially love the brisket. I have been going to Rudy's now for over 10 years. Keep up the good work
Oh the succulent taste of brisketso good that one might decide to just eat it by itself forgetting about all the other fixings (potato salad, cole slaw, corn on the cob, pecan pie, etc). The cafeteria style ordering lines you up in front of cash registers in view of a back drop of firing ovens and rotisserie set ups.
It is very easy for your eyes be hungrier than your stomach. The visuals will often fool you if you are not careful. If you really are hungry a half pound of Brisket, Chicken or Sausages with two sides will do the trick! If you are a sandwich-fene like me then a Pork Loin or Brisket Sandwich will do you rightget at least one sideI favor the potato salad or the pecan pie.
It is a regional chain restaurant that has expanded only a couple years ago into more metropolitan areas like Houston. Before that I had to be on a road trip to San Antonio/Leon Springs area to enjoy such things! I especially give extra credit to places with the original feel and this Leon Springs location has such a badge of honor!
Maybe Rudy's has lost its luster in the last couple of years. One thing is for sureif i am hungry and in the area I will stop by!
Outstanding!! Love coming here as the food is always amazing. The turkey and sausage is the best thing on the menu if you don't consider the cream corn. Oh wait, then there's the wonderful barbecue sauce. As you can see it's hard for me to define my favorite. Often we grab their smoked turkey for Thanksgiving and my in-laws to come into town said it is one of the highlights of the year and it was the best turkey I've ever had.
The service was outstanding! Angie was so helpful and nice. She even helped take my food to my car while I was holding my daughter. The food is great. I ordered the brisket (1/2 pound, should have ordered more), chopped (1 pound, really good), sausage (great), cream corn (this is not your can of cream corn that you buy in a store. This is amazing! So creamy and delicious. You have to try it), and on top of all of that Angie threw in a half loaf of bread and put the silverware and napkins all together. We live in California, but we will definitely be back before this trip is over.
I really like BBQ, and am always trying new places. I will have to say the BBQ I got at this Rudy's is the best I ever had.
You know it has to be good if the Billboard out front boasts "The World's Worst BBQ". I mean, they have to have a lot of confidence in the product to have a brazen sign like that out front.
I tried a little bit of everything in there and it was all exceptional. The hot links were perfect, the Brisket was wonderful and the pork was the best I ever had.
Rudy's has achieved BBQ perfection. Just the right seasoning, the perfect amount of smoke and just the light level of tenderness.
I live about 4 hours away from this location but am ready to make another special trip there just to get some more of this delicious food.
