This place is a must-do, if you are in Hilton Head and you like good food and live R&B. Tight quarters, but the atmosphere is so friendly you hardly notice. The owner and staff are warm and welcoming. You must order the gumbo! I discovered this spot while on vacation last year. I plan to vacation in Hilton Head again next year and can't wait to get back to Ruby Lee's.
Amazing good and music. Very bad service. So bad that it didn't out weigh the good. I waited for an hour for food for our table. My dish didn't come. My friends were almost done with their food by the time our server checked on us and finally realized my food never got there. She started arguing with the food runner and making herself look foolish. When they went to get my food, they realized they had run out so I had to order something completely different. I asked to speak to the manager and explained the situation. I'm not the type of person to chase a discount, but I shpuld not have been made to pay for my meal. But a discount want even offered. Ruby Lee's is somewhere I would love to invite my out of town friends but will never return after that experience.
It was a horrible experience! My family and I made reservations for the restaurant because we received very good recommendations for this spot. We were so excited to go try the food. However we were truly disappointed. The server served three couples that were seated after us prior to ever taking our order. They forgot to bring out my daughters meal completely and my husband's chicken was not cooked completely. Be sure you have reservations because I saw many people turned away. We had reservations and it seemed as if they were not prepared for our party. I was truly let down.
Classic southern cuisine restaurant with a very comfortable atmosphere. Menu had some phenomenal selections including seafood soup, Po Boy, various seafood, shrimp and grits, and ox tail stew, and fried chicken. Well priced, too. My family loved it and will be back. Dope ass waitress, too. She was Jessie. Loved her!
Our family has been going to Ruby Lee's for 3 years on their annual trip to HHI. This was our first year to join the family to eat at Ruby Lee's. Our expectations were high because of our family's previous experience. Our experience exceeded our expectations.the food was the best we have ever had on HHI and we always eat at highly recommended restaurants. The service was excellent and our waiter,Joshua, was personable and professional. We will definitely return to Ruby Lee's!
Ruby Lee's was great. Lovely homely atmosphere. Great food! And the band 'Ross 2+1' served up classic after classic.
Great experience for out of towners like me. I had - and recommend - the Ox Tail Stew with Rice.
Outstanding southern food! Eating here will be a prerequisite for any trip to Hilton Head for us. Some of the best friend chicken I've ever had. The oxtails, catfish, and collards were all outstanding as well. My only regret is that I only had one stomach
Excellent entertainment! Food is over pricedStaff is friendly.
The BEST in every way!!!!! The food, the atmosphere, dancing and the best, THE MUSIC!!!!
Too fun, this place epitomizes what HHI is all about. We meet new friends every trip. Great food, great service, great music and fun people.
Excellent music, delicious food, cozy atmosphere. However, we must have had a new server, as we were virtually ignored by her the entire time we were there. When she did come by, she wasn't very helpful.
1st time, won't be last. Great food, great music, great atmosphere, great service [thanks Tresa]. Small intimate setting with band set off in corner in front. The music is jazz and throw back with 3 piece band. Actually met Ruby Lee. From the music, posters, bar, serviceall around number one spot to visit. Best end to great trip. If you hit Hilton Head Island, do yourself a favor and visit Ruby Lee's if you like good food that sticks to your ribs, an inviting warm atmosphere and a great band. Call for reservations, small place fills up fast.
