You get a 5!!!!! One of my favorite wineries and easily 1 of the top 3 in VA. The owners and staff are very knowledgeable, informative and amazing. I know we couldn't live without being members of their wine club. The wine club dinner parties are a great benefit and a lot of fun. Don't miss out on this gem. Thanks a lot for the unforgettable memories Justin, Aubrey and Rosemont crew!!

Beautiful estate grown winery located on 24 acres of rolling hills, located on the VA/NC border. Excellent selection of wines. My favorite is the 1858. Friendly, helpful staff, too.

Great small winery tucked away near Lake Gaston. We visit frequently as we have family out this way. We've been visiting for several years and are never disappointed. The staff is always pleasant. The view of the vineyard is beautiful year round. We enjoy many of their festivals and concerts. If you are in the area you should definitely stop by.

My friends and I rented a lake house in Bracey, Virginia and stumbled upon this winery after a local recommended it. You must go here! It is such a treasure in this small town! The location is stunning, the wine is delicious, and the seating makes it impossible to not stay a while and enjoy a bottle. We are already looking forward to making this a yearly event! And, as if it couldn't get better, the official greeter - Max, a dog - is adorable!

If you're within driving distance of this vineyard, I would most definitely recommend visiting. Not only are their wines to die for, but the atmosphere and views are spectacular. Let's put it this way: I took my (awesome) 74-year-old grandmother out there and we had a BLAST doing a tasting and visiting. It was a truly wonderful experience. If you get an opportunity to visit during an event or festival, I would also highly recommend that.

We decided to return from an away family Thanksgiving via nothing but two-lane Virginia roads. Set the compass east-ish and never touch a major thoroughfare finding 'William Least-Heat Moon' if you will.
In doing so, we came upon Rosemont Winery* just east of the Bracey, VA - an easy side-stop for even you road-weary I-85 and I-95 sojourners.
Our hosts were bright and pleasant. The facilities, casual, warm and inviting. The operation, established and highly professional. Proud and rightly so.
More and more, we find such local/regional wines punching far above presumed weights. No longer the mistrued, "Oh how cute, they're playing with wine for the tourists!" Nor the seven 'middling desert wines' with an extensive gift shop for the AARP buses.
Well of course! The soil and climate - our terroir - and history has always been spot on for vines.
Tracts of prime land, rolling hills, once used for tobacco, soy, then pines, now provide for pitch-perfect vinyards (save for anomolies which occur elsewhere too, such as a hard frost or a speeding car wiping out rows of this year's Pinot grapes! No fatalities, we were informed.)
Passionate, intelligent and comitted people - doing yeoman's work, such as at Rosemont, we continue to be impressed and encouraged with the work progessing in our own state (and North Carolina.)
Highlights in no order:
Generous and interesting tasting.
A proper sense of humor.
Superb rolling vinyard vistas from the many quiet, casual tables and chairs on porch, balcony or patio (relax with loved ones or, pretend you are a now a wealthy land barron, sipping wine, perched on your large balcony whilst admiring your grand swaths of fertile land.)
Do take the short, informal tour, even if not processing. Do smell the different types of wood barrels. Yes, smell them. Feel the temperature and humidity levels.
The gifts presented for purchase were all locally-made, not manufactured kitsch. Barrel staves transformed into beautiful craft; local art, crafted woodworks, vinery souveniers created by "Bob, he lives over yonder."
But no matter, the focus is the wine.
The meeting of and interacting with varieties of travelers on holiday weekend, the pleasant sampling of visitors, be it an urban youth group from Charlotte; a touring music group or families from Ontario, CA to Arizona etc.
Plus, we found plenty of proud locals, just in for an informal visit, happy to tell local tales or advise on finding great local food nearby. And not a crappy attitude in the place.
Such as tradition for centuries around the world, when harvest is at hand, locals, groups, individuals, families, come from all over the region to help pick and process the grapes. It is outstanding to see it continued here in our back yard with the vineyards. Every bottle represents the best of the area and people in many ways. Bravo we're going, sore backs or not.
Lastly, we were privy to a small, first batch experiment with a port style wine. Not as yet standing firm in any one spot and we can't wait to see how the port develops each year. For now, we have an interesting, almost uncategorized but delicious aperitif or what-have-you.
Our car sagged from the usual holiday luggage, but even more so, from the cases we took home to share and enjoy until the next visit. (Everyone gets wine this year!)

One of the best wineries in Virginia! Very friendly & knowledgeable staff. The wines are outstanding - they have done wonderful things with both white and red varietals. Try their Pinot Grigio and Cabernet Franc - you won't be disappointed!
