This was the best cracker barrel I have been to. Food was great. And the service was impeccable! When going to va beach I would stop at this one again definitely. The only reason it's not getting 5 stars, the lady in the store was almost hounding us to make a purchase. It upset my husband.
This is the first time I've been to Cracker Barrel that I don't complain about the food. Although, my steak came and it wasn't done. I sent it back and it came back cooked too much but it still tasted good so I let it go. No the food tasted good when it finally came. The service is where this experience went to pieces. The waitress didn't put the lemon in my wife's water or bring her gravy or cook her eggs properly. I asked my scrambled eggs be soft, she wanted hers hard. They were both soft. They brought the gravy then a little later she got the eggs. It also took our glasses being empty before we got refills. We smiled through it all because each thing on its own was a little thing but the final straw was the receipt. The cashier asked if I wanted a receipt, I said yes but one wasn't printed. They couldn't figure out how to print one so they called a manager. She worked at it for what seemed like forever (honestly it was about 3 to 4 minutes) and finally told me that they can't print duplicate receipts, like she knew all along. I then asked if I could have the bill for my record and she told me they threw it away. Then they went digging through the trash! I told them not to dig in the trash, just write it on something for me but they had no clue how to figure out how to see what I payed and since they were already on the floor digging in the trash they just kept at it until they found all four pieces. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the lengths to which they were willing to go to help me but if they knew what they were doing none of that would've been necessary. I can't in good conscience recommend others go here. Maybe today was an off day for them but they were having troubles with everything. Not just with me but everyone there.
American (Southern US) breakfast items done well and fast. The pancakes had a crispy exterior and fluffy interior. They came with cute and warm little individual bottles of natural maple syrup. The bacon was thick and crispy but still with a good chew to them. I always am tempted by yet always let down by the hash brown casserole. They are mushy in texture, and never as cheesy as I hope they will be. Also, you get very little hash brown for the $2.39 you pay for them. You get maybe two heaping tablespoons worth. Service was quick and friendly.
Comfort food just off the interstate.
If you want good breakfast food for lunch or dinner, this is the place to go. I'm a breakfast guy, but the rest of their menu is just as good, with nice variety. Chicken and dumplings, fish--including haddock, shrimp, and catfish among others--steak, all the sides you could want, and even some nice desserts. Oh, and you can't forget about those biscuits and corn muffins.
Not too expensive, great breakfast food, and nice for groups.
I've been here multiple times. Some good and some bad. The food is good. The service is hit or miss. I've had wonderful servers and I've had people that never came to my table and went to others before me when I was seated for about ten minutes. I didn't go to this restaurant for years. I finally went last week and the server was very polite and food was fast. It wasn't really busy that day though. Food again was good.
Had the worst experience I've ever had. Forgot to put in our order then when we finally received our food if it wasn't burnt it was the wrong order. They really need to get there at together. Told them were are just gonna leave and they never attempted to convince to stay or try to correct the problem. Smdh
Chicken and dumplins were great as usual. Mac and cheese was cold. Meatloaf was an EXTREMELY small portion. We usually eat at the one in Chester and you get a pretty big piece of meatloaf.
Usually a pretty good place. Convenient on trips up 85 or 95 and across 58
Wonderful Dinner with Family The Food didn't compare to the Quality Time together! Was too tired to post last night! Scott & I were real busy yesterday before We got to go eat!
Their daily specials are yummy. The food is consistent in every location. Crispy crunchy chicken and fried fish. The fried apples are ok, more suited as a pie filling out of a can. I have had to send food back many times because the cooks didn't get it right. The portions are large and the food is simple, not fancy. But in ratings it's so much better than most in their same catagory.
Food was really good. Excellent service. Better than the one in VA Beach where I got food poisoning. Was kinda optimistic about eating in one again but im glad I did. 2nd time in two weeks💯👍
Cannot say enough good things about the service and the food. The manager even took the time to come over and talk to the kids. They brought out biscuits immediately because they didn't want the kids to wait to eat. Fantastic food and service!
I love Cracker Barrel because they always have good service and great food. This time however at South Hill Virginia the knives were greasy. I asked for another knife and it too was greasy. Even though I made no bones (forgive the pun) about it. I just ate my pork chop with my hand. I will continue to patronize Cracker Barrel because it's like being at Grandma's house. Just check out that dishwasher!
We always find great service and a good meal at Cracker Barrel. I love the "Eggs in a Basket" with the hole cut into the sourdough bread for the egg, but all their breakfasts are good. The wait staff is exceptional any day, any time no matter how busy.
A perfect Cracker Barrel, good food! I stop there traveling South all the time, it's up on the hill a bit away from traffic, nice location. It's great to browse the store while waiting for food, I usually do take out when traveling through the area.
