The Greek hobo omelet was decent (and cheap), but it took an hour and a half to get it. Other key factors were severely lacking - cleanliness (we got dirty silverware/plates/napkins), friendliness, and environment (it was packed and people were standing with the door open so it was freezing, it was very loud and crowded, menu was falling apart). The kitchen/staff are not equipped to handle as many people as the restaurant can hold.

Not a very good experience. It took forever to get our food. Two of the forks we were given and at least one of the plates were dirty. My pancakes had hot sauce on them when they came out. Ew. After taking an hour to get to us, the food was only mediocre. It was also very very noisy.

Our waitress was decent, but didn't make up for the rest of the experience

Best diner in the city, food it's quality home cooking style. Prices are unbelievably affordable & the quality is impressive.
The diner is cash only, they have an on-site ATM at the front.
They're open late on weekends/some week nights & have awesome desserts.

I love Ritter's but this 24/7 greasy spoon doesn't have the best food (ultimately driving the 3 stars). It's an Oakland fixture, locals come frequently if not daily, and the all day menu has a large variety of dishes. If you get a breakfast bagel with cheese I recommend asking for an extra slice and the Greek hobo omelet is probably the strongest offering. The waitresses are sometimes busy but friendly and I can vouch for the owner operator is an understanding business owner. Cash only and the ATM is sometimes on the fritz. If you sit at a booth there are old school juke boxes you might want to try.

Not from the area, only come into town for business and stay around the corner. Wish I started coming here sooner. The funky dated decor is awesome. It's a real diner, nothing fancy. Great prices, great quality.

They have this BLT made with fried green tomatoes they call the Ritter Twist. My favorite!

Whether you're from Pittsburgh or not, you should come here for an experience. Their menu is huge and food comes quickly to your table. Don't expect anything fancy.

Old school diner experience; small jukeboxes on tables. Don't expect anything fancy or updated. That's part of the charm. Large menu/lots to choose from, food always comes out great. Unique options such as grape leaves and baklava. Open 24/7. What more could one ask for?

Pretty good diner in the East End. Open 24- hours Wednesdays through Saturdays. Cash only. Friendly service, although it can be slow and a little inattentive sometimes. Consistently decent food and coffee. Large menu with breakfast available all day. Great place to come after the bars close. Really good pies (made in-house). One of the only places in town to still have mini-jukeboxes at their booths. Limited parking available in lots behind the building.

Great diner food from breakfast to burgers and sandwiches to dinners, friendly people and a good price. If you're looking for diner food and a diner atmosphere this is definitely that place. (If you're not, then this won't be the place for you.) Do be aware it is cash only and come with some cash so you don't have to pay an ATM fee. And if this annoys you, just remember it helps keep their prices lower for your meal.

Wednesday stew specialThe BEST. Stuffed pork chop served Sundays and Tuesdays onlyYum. One of the BEST tasting hamburgers in the Burgh!!! Freshly brewed iced tea daily. What's NOT to love? And the waitresses are very attentive, efficient and genuinely friendly. LOVE Ritters.Always have!

Great old timey local Pittsburgh semi-Greek diner. Cash only. Service is quick. Food is cheap, tasty, and in large portions. I go in on that spinach feta omelet. Wonderful drunk weekend late night food or brunch to fight the hangover the next morning.

I am visiting US for the first time. This place was very retro like I saw in movies. The food was good in quantity and cheap. The spinach and feta omlet was great and it comes with toast and potatoes wedges/hash brown something. Pancake was really good too. We had to take half back to eat later :). You can put coin to hear the playlist from Recorder. Surely I am going to come again for breakfast. Also this is cash only place.

It was an okay dining experience but as a visitor verses a local I don't see myself returning when we visit Pittsburgh again. The food was okay/passable but nothing like what I expected from the reviews. If you're a southerner you will not be blown away by the fried green tomatoes as the locals seem to be. The breadcrumbs used in lieu of the standard seasoned cornmeal/flour mix was tasteless (not even salt in it it seemed) but the dipping sauce was good even if I'm not one to expect or want a dipping sauce with my fried green tomatoes but to each it's own. I prefer to taste my tomatoes and feel the crunch not drown it in sauce to get flavor like you would douse a cheap steak in A-1 to choke it down. It was very crowded when we arrived on a Sunday at lunchtime so there was a bit of a wait which gave us high hopes for the food (because a big crowd usually means food worth waiting in a cold entryway for) but it fell a little flat for me. The gravy on my daughters meatloaf was good but the spaghetti I got was kinda bland, it needed a lot of salt and pepper. The waitress was nice but rushed and curt because of the crowd. My husband's fries were room temperature and a bit overdone when he got them. The butter for the rolls was still almost frozen, if you get their house dressing for the salad be prepared for the kind of tartness that makes your brows hit your hairline. I could go on but I won't because I'm sure you get the picture at this point. But I will add that it's a cash only establishment and they do have an ATM on site. Not sure what fees it charges as we had cash on us.
