Firealaram just went off in every room. They tripped. Also, the whole unit smells like cigeratte smoke in the non smoking area. It is hard to breath in general with the filtration.
I have to say that my experience at the hotel with Sarah as the hostage was great she was very kind and very helpful the service was good
Wow this is a great motel! Remodeling is nice ! Clean , easy to find , good area of town , VERY Helpful staff ! It was a great value.we will return in spring !
Old and seedy. Bouncy bed, flat pillows, rooms facing out to the parking lot. Feels very 1950
Efficient and convenient. Clean room, good air conditioning, easy reservations and check in / check out. Nicer room than expected for a place with rooms opening to outside. Not a luxury hotel, but a good place to spend the night if you just need a decent place to get a shower and sleep.
Pretty sure Days Inn and Motel 6 and Super 8 are better than the Red Roof Inn "Plus"! I'd hate to see the non plus version. Bathrooms are so small, towel had a gross stain, and there was a hair on the toilet seat when I got there. I guess it could have been worse. They did have cable, a little refrigerator, and a microwave. I'm just used to staying at various Marriott properties like Courtyards, and Holiday Inn properties.
Get rid of the bullet proof glass. This is not a bad part of town, but the lobby closes at night and you check in at a bullet proof window like it's some kind of low budget brothel. Our room smelled horrible like someone had just smoked pot. Our kids started coughing when we entered the room. We walked away from a three day, non refundable reservation without spending the night. Priceline sold us a room here claiming it's a 2.5 star hotel. Nope.
Best bed I've ever slept in. I was really sad we had to leave. I loved the complementary snack box that came with a premium room. The tv was very good quality. I loved that the bathroom had a night light so I didn't have to turn the bright light on during the night. We requested a room on the 1st floor and got our choice. I don't have any complaints. It was very quiet and clean.
This place was great. The woman at the desk, I believe her name was Sarah, was a total sweetheart and helped us figure out how to get around the DC and avoid the traffic. The rooms were clean and nice. The only thing I would change is that our room didn't have a coffee pot, but honestly it didn't matter. The location is good, you're right next to the interstate. There's an abundance of resturants within a mile of the hotel and a couple of places deliver to the hotel. For the price you pay for a basic room, this place is amazing.
It was fine for the price. The room smelled musty and felt humid all night. The wooden floor has a thin film substance all over it, it felt like it was sticky but it didn't result in my feet being sticky. I wouldn't stay here for more than one night. I do enjoy their openess to dogs.
Reasonably clean and friendly staff. Mismatched lighting in the room - cfl cold and warm - gives it a bit of a bleak look. The rooms facing the highway are def louder with poor sound insulation from the door and windows as well as the thin walls so you'll hear your neighbors. I would suggest ear plugs for the light sleeper.
We were looking for somewhere cheap just to be a place to lay our heads for a night for a trip to DC. I was really pleasantly surprised. Our room wasn't quite ready for us when we got there, but we also got there right at the start of check-in time, so the young lady at the desk upgraded our room at no cost without us asking so that we could drop our stuff in our room immediately. Everything was clean, no sign of bugs, bed was comfortable, room was spacious. My only complaint is that the sound proofing in the bathroom could have been better. I went to take a nice, long bath after a day of wandering the national mall and after about five minutes someone in a neighboring room decided to shower and the noise was almost deafening, not to mention it was loud enough to make the tub vibrate. This happened any time any one in the surrounding rooms ran water of any kind. But seriously a minor complaint, and not one that I imagine will greatly impact the average traveler. This place is an excellent value, and I would definitely stay again if I was in the area.
The location is right on the edge of a nice neighborhood, however there are sketchy people wandering in front of the hotel and nearby. The closest metro is Huntington and it would be walkable, however the sketchy neighborhood is directly between it and the hotel. There is a Five Guys within pretty easy walking distance. The rooms are smaller than average, but fit two queens comfortably. The amenities in these rooms are excellent (including microwave, tv, fridge, etc.). There is even an ironing board and iron for business travelers. The front desk was let us into our room earlier than the 3pm check in time and has kept it clean throughout our stay. Some nooks and crannies (corners of drawers) can be slightly dirty. The front desk also offers coffee and creamer, however does not offer breakfast of any kind. Overall, this Red Roof gets the job done in a high demand location.
Can't speak for the other rooms, but this hotel is not the best, and it's OK if you're just looking for a place to sleep. I wouldn't recommend an extended stay. I was in a basic room and compared to their premium room, this room does not have a fridge, coffee maker, and microwave. It does have Decent size TV, ironing board, a small desk and dresser. The sink is nice too. My stay was quiet, but can be kind of sketchy. I'm guessing this is why they close the check in office around 8, then you have proceed to the other door which is a very small lobby, but has a window to check-in or any other requests with guest services. The only downfall is that the room I was in, even after the upgrade, you can see it aging especially in the bathroom. The bottom wall in the bathroom was cracked and the shower head was cracked as well, causing the water to spray out of the tub. I gave it 3 stars because my stay was decent, but can definitely be a 2.5 as well.
