The room was good the front desk was kinda of friendly. The breakfast was horrible with stale biscuits. Overall not a bad stay for the price of $42
We were lodged here for over a month due to damage to, and subsequent loss of, our home.
The pros: Red Roof has a "pets welcome" policy, nationally. Very useful if you have to travel with pets..
Our room had a comfortable bed, newer looking furniture, newer TV, and was decently sized. Door locks are with an RFID tagged card, so no worrying about a magnetic strip being erased. The room came with a microwave and fridge which did their jobs.
The cons: The carpeting was far beyond its "expiration date". It was tattered, dirty and had what appeared to be blood stains near the door.
The AC/Heater looked older than I am, and constantly had to be adjusted to keep the room comfortable.
The bathroom and sink area had a lot of dust on certain surfaces. The microwave and fridge looked like they'd barely had a cloth wiped over them in months - thankfully I keep Clorox wipes in our car.
There were missing knobs on drawers, a sink that leaked all over the place, and a smoke detector in need of a battery change.
Maintenance and housekeeping staff were friendly, as were a few of the front desk staff. But other front desk staff were clueless or rude. The hotel provides a free hot continental breakfast. Don't try to take it back to your room, however - the gestapo will stop you.
And don't bother with the eggs or sausages - they're awful. The juices are clearly watered down as well.
Which leads me to the owners. Many states and counties impose a tax on hotel rooms, which you are exempt from if you stay over 30 days. After 30 days, you are no longer considered to be staying in a transient accommodation, so some of the taxes you've paid are refunded.
Don't expect to be informed of this by hotels - you often have to request the refund, and hoteliers are well familiar with this.
This owner will give you a song and dance about it, as if hoping you'll forget. He'll try and make it seem as if he's doing you a favor, and isn't sure if he can refund you since he has "already paid the tax", even when he hasn't since it isn't after the 15th of the month.
I feel like this guy may very well be taking full advantage of the system to his own benefit, because so many travelers are not knowledgeable about the laws governing stays of 30 days or more.
And keep in mind - most of the hotels nearby are owned by members of the same family and close friends. They vacation together, socialize together, and run their businesses in a similar manner.
They are NOT interested in putting customers first. And I'll leave it at that.
Employees were excellent. The place is a bit run down. Not clean. Noisy.
Zero stars. The first room they put me in was room #228, it was missing a tv. I complained to the front desk and the clerk moved me to room 220. In room 220 there was hair in the tub, on the bathroom floor, in the sink, and hair in the bed sheets. My husband killed 3 stink bugs in the first 10 minutes of checking in. At 5 AM I tried to turn on the air conditioning and it did not work. When I called to complain to the front desk he said there was nothing he could do about it he already moved me once. I called the next day to complain to the owner and he tried to justify how dirty his hotel room was. He belittled me and made me as a woman feel worthless and unimportant. I asked for a refund on my hotel room and he told me that I already slept in it that it was too bad. I called corporate and got a refund and they are looking into my complaints so they can make changes. When looking for a hotel don't stay here it is filthy, so filthy we left without showering.
Very nice! Frig was handy. Didn't need the iron, but could have been needed.
First the room that we were given was smoked in. So we changed rooms. The second room smelled cleaner and was tolerable, but the top blankets were stained and I would bet haven't been washed. The coffee maker was gross and there was no way I was going to use it, we also found bugs on the bathroom, thank God there were no bed bugs. I checked. Only half the TV channels worked and the air conditioner was really loud. At least there was air conditioning. For the money, I feel a little cheated. I would not stay again.
Pretty good location off the expressway. Good quiet spot. The rooms were okay at best. Beds were comfortable and seemed clean, however everything else in the room seemed not to have been cleaned. The mirrors were all smudged and had hand prints on them. The bedside table and tv area were dusty. The service was Interesting. They were definitely polite and courteous, but seemed confused by basic things. I booked online at 10 PM and when I arrived 15 minutes later they were cleaning my room??? And the front desk guy had to make a few phone calls to figure out my reservation. The beds and location are worth it if you want somewhere with a good price to crash for the night. Otherwise spend a little more for something cleaner.
I wouldn't say I hate this motel because the breakfast and pool were great! I will say it does need much improvement on cleaning of the rooms! I have posted pictures for everyone to see because it needs to be known. Someone could get sick and what if little babies are crawling on these floors? Yikes! My daughter has asthma so seeing the black mold really scared me! Some of the staff were pretty rude I asked for more towels and she said " if I give you towels today you won't get any tomorrow"! Wow! I ran out of toilet paper I am unaware of the outcome of that because I didn't ask by that time I was leaving. Prices for the room is good I think the motel needs serious deep cleaning it's a very dirty PLACE. I will never stay at another red roof inn again. Proceed with caution!
Nice looking, but smelled like smoke in a non-smoking room and stains on the cover on the bed. Made experience not the best.
Room wasn't as nice as I expected. Arrived after dark and the light switch didn't turn on any lamps. Had to use my cell phone to find lamp switch. The bathroom door won't even latch close as the frame looks all warped. Bath drain was gross and didn't drain well.
Location is great. Carpet is filthy, toilet does not fill all the way, stove was absolutely disgusting with thick crusty burnt food and black soot with chunks coming off. Curtains off the track. Cement on the walkways has HUGE holes, unsafe. Breakfast bar is good. The biggest issue is that it is very, very dirty. The suite really has everything you need, just clean it up and this could be a great place!
Amazing experience. lovely employees. and a wonderful room.
Yes, this is a cheaper hotel brand. However, this was well worth the money I spent. The bed was extremely comfortable, the sheets crisp and clean. The room was neatly arranged and tidy. It even smelled fresh. The staff were all extremely friendly from the front desk, the maintenance guy, and the housekeepers.
The few downsides---my faucet in my tub had a small drip. It did not keep me awake but it certainly should be fixed. The continental breakfast did have a very good selection. WORD OF WARNING: DON'T EAT THE SAUSAGE LINKS.
