We are planning our next trip here!

We've stayed in 2 different cabins here:
    1) Wildcat cabin, which is a convenient 5 min north of the Parkway not far at all from a lot of great hiking spots. The cabin is very nice and we would definitely rent this one again.
    2) Take It Easy cabin is in the resort area near their main office, south of the Parkway. The cabin is absolutely beautiful and has 4 queen beds. I didn't want to leave. The Natural Bridge State Park is only about 10 min away.

The staff here was very responsive to our needs and questions. I feel like we made friends even through having to make some changes during our stay. We plan on coming back to the area and staying here again.

It barely deserves 1 star. The cabin was not clean! Downstairs was musty & needed some attention. Kitchen counters were greasy and needed to be wiped down. A bit pricey for the accomodations.

We stayed at the Shooting Star cabin after viewing pictures of it online, of course the pictures you see online doesn't tell everything but when you're renting a cabin from 300 miles away you have to trust the company to represent their properties honestly. The cabin we rented was in need of repairs BADLY. The decking around the hot tub and the hot tub was falling apart, there was mold inside the cabin, there were wasp upstairs that stung our 6 year old and several good sized spiders in the house, they charge you a $50 cleaning fee but it looks like it hasn't been cleaned in months the air conditioner would not cool the cabin below 75 degrees and that took until midnight to cool it off that much not to mention a kitchen sink that every time you turned it on would leak all over the floor. We booked it for two nights and did not get in till late the first night when I went to talk to them about it in the morning and showed them the spiders we killed and told them of all the other problems I told them I wanted a refund for the second night and we were leaving. I offered to show the attendant the pictures but she said she believed me and she didn't need to see them and that they would refund our second night but it would take a couple days. With a total bill of $330 they refunded $110. I've tried contacting them several times by phone and email but got no response.

PS We stayed at several different places on our trip but somewhere along the way we picked up bed bugs my guess is since this was the only filthy place we stayed in this is where they came from but don't know that for sure.

After reading this review please see the organizations response I've pasted below my review. I believe my bad experience was a temporary issue due to an isolated case of poor maintenance and Red River Gorge Cabin Rentals has dealt with the issue satisfactorily.

    My Review:
Pros: Beautiful Wood Work, Deck, Hot tub and Views
Cons: Unclean Bathroom with Lots of Mold, Loss of Running Water Twice and Biting Pests in the House

We stayed at the Mountain Chalet cabin. Let me start by saying that the cabin looks charming with an all wood interior, a nice deck with a hot tub and floor-to-ceiling windows.

Now the reasons for the two stars
When we arrived we found that the bathtub had not been cleaned. There were hairs in it and the shower curtain was covered in black mold. There was also lots of black mold underneath the caulking. It took a long time for someone to come and clean the tub and replace the shower curtain. There was nothing the cleaning person could do about the caulk.

The water went out in the entire cabin twice. The first time it went out late on the first night and came back on in an hour. It was no big deal. We brushed our teeth with water bottle. We were told the pump was priming itself and it would come back on in an hour. In the morning on the next day the water was back on. Then later that night the water went out again late. This time it didn't come back on. The repairman came late in the morning and it took hours to fix so we couldn't cook breakfast, couldn't brush teeth or wash up. So we ended up leaving early and going to a friend's place five hours away to wash up.

Finally, I just went to the doctor and to get some bites checked out that were identified as possible bed bug bites but may have been fleas.

Before I had the bites checked out I had called the management and asked for a partial refund based only on the bathroom and the water going out. I was offered a $50 gift certificate to use on another visit.
After getting the bites inspected I called again and asked for a full refund. The person answering the phone said they would talk to management and call me back.

Update: As of today (a day after this post) I did receive an email saying I was being given a full refund. When that appears in my bank account I will update again.

    Update 2:

Here is the response I received from the rental company:

    Mr. Curry,
I am writing to you on behalf of Red River Gorge Cabin Rentals. We apologize for the delay in response, however we had to wait for the report from the pest control professionals. I would like to extend our sincerest apologies and hope that you will understand our position. The $50 reimbursement offered upon your departure was for the lack of water inconvenience you experienced, at the time of offering this reimbursement I was unaware of the bug bite situation. We did close the property and employed Blue Dimond Pest control to visit and inspect and treat for any issues. Upon their departure, the report states there was no indication or evidence of bed bugs; there was however the presence of fleas, which does tend to happen when you encourage guests to bring their pets. We are very sorry this happened to you during your stay and we appreciate your patience and understanding in the matter. We have processed a full refund for the flea issue and hope you will accept our apologies. We do take preventative measures and do our best to ensure all of our properties are maintained however there are instances where things do not go as planned. In these instances we hope that our customers understand and bear with us while we work towards a solution.
Again I would like to thank you for your time and patience in dealing with the matter and hope that you will find our resolution satisfactory and update your reviews of our company accordingly. If you have any further questions or issues please feel free to reach back out to me and I will be assist as best as possible. Thank you for your time, I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer.

We stayed in the Wildwood cabin for our honeymoon and were mostly pleased with our stay. My husband chose this cabin because of the huge cliff behind the cabin which pretty neat!! The hot tub was great and the kitchen had all of the cookware and utensils that we needed to cook our meals since there aren't many restaurants near by. The biggest downside to this cabin was the hard mattress; it was TERRIBLY uncomfortable!! After days of hiking and canoeing, it wold have been nice to have a more comfortable bed to sleep in. Bring your own pillows because the pillows that are supplied are uncomfortable as well. There is WiFi but it does not work so add a few gb of data to your plan beforehand. The washer did not work, but we wouldn't have needed it. The drier works which was nice to warm up the towels! Carpenter bees were all over the porch. They're harmless, but annoying.
