I don't think I had one positive experience here. The management is a joke, only a couple of the staff members are helpful or even polite, and they make dealing with them unnecessarily difficult. Only place I know that will admit they didn't clean the place before you moved in, say they'll clean while you're there, make MORE of a mess doing maintenance, never actually come clean the place, and then charge you a cleaning fee upon moving out. What a joke

After reading bad review after bad review, I was super skeptical about signing a lease at The Lex. I decided to give it a try, and right from the get go I have been nothing but impressed. The staff is crazy friendly and totally helpful. I dropped my earring down the drain of my shower and Mike, the maintenance supervisor, jumped right on it, helping me during my meltdown. I have not had a bad experience yet and would recommend it to anyone. The location is completely convenient and the apartment itself is very well maintained.

I would rate this zero stars if I could. I'm not even living there yet, but they've already screwed me over. I am about to be a freshman at UK, and couldn't live on campus because I have two cats. One is an Emotional Support Animal, the other one is a pet. I took interest in The Lex because they claimed to be "pet friendly." My family and I visited twice, and made it very clear that I had two cats, one a service animal and one a pet. I was told by two separate employees that I could bring both my cats. One employee even specified on a handwritten list the cost for two separate pets. We signed a contract and then were sent an Animal Addendum that stated we could only have one pet, even though their employees said otherwise. I explained that one of my cats is a service animal, and therefore cannot legally be classified as a pet. They claim it doesn't matter and they can't change policy (Although on my visits I've seen several large dogs despite the weight limit for pets supposedly being 30 lbs. They claim they're all service animals. Every single one is apparently a service animal.) Despite this being their mistake, they were unwilling to accommodate me. The only two requirements I had for a place to live were proximity to campus and their pet policy. Had I known at any point before I received the Animal Addendum that I could not have both cats, I would never have signed a contract. But now I can't breach contract, which means I have to live there or pay for it, so I'm forced to separate my cats, who are the best of friends and get quite lonely without one another, or not have access to the support animal who helped me so much I was able to quit medication for my mental illness. Needless to say, I am beyond angry and disappointed with the outcome of this predicament. I had read that the management was crappy and not very understanding with ESAs in the reviews but decided to give them a chance anyway. That was a huge mistake. The thought of moving down there now is enough to make me sick to my stomach. Needless to say, I will absolutely NOT be leasing with them again.

I went on a tour here recently, and it was actually pretty decent. My guides, especially Alexis Vincent, were very informative and helpful. They were willing to answer any questions and help me figure out different locations near U.K. I was treated like a friend rather than just a random student. All in all, I was happy with my first experience at these apartments.

Bedbugs!
My son had an apartment in this complex. He kept getting bites and thought it was mosquito bites. He turned the light on after dark and found numerous bedbugs in and around his bed. He informed the administrative staff. They told him he brought them in and they would spray. He was also told that they have never had a report of bedbugs. My son has never been in an area w bedbugs, we are an upper middle class family, our home was checked during this time and no bedbugs were found from a local exterminator company.
I called the health department and I was told The Lex has had reports of bedbugs before. I asked the administrative staff if this was true she said she was unaware of any cases of bedbugs as long as she had worked at The Lex. I found out later she had only been working there 3 weeks! Later my son was told by other students there were multiple rooms in his hallway that had bedbugs last year.
The Lex refused to move my son out of the room. They said that he would spread the bedbugs to other rooms. He spent 2 months getting bite after bite. Finally, his dermatologist wrote an order for him to be removed from the room. He moved to another building that did not have an infestation. He had to leave numerous items in his room because he could not spray or wash, including a nice table, printer, and suit coat which was later stolen. There was no compensation for losses, injuries, and the rent bills continued even though we discussed the losses with the administrative staff.
Beware your student may have a room infested with bedbugs too!response / report this review
