Echoing the positive impressions of others here. This lovely venue used by locals for weddings and more. Unusual natural environment so close to town. Some highway and rail traffic noise, but would visit again.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!!!! My husband and I booked two nights to spend on our way to and from Orlando. We even drove out of our way to spend some time at this campsite. We had booked online for a very specific campsite and when we showed up to check in they informed us that they had cancelled our original booking and rebooked us for a different campsite location without calling and checking with us. We explained that we booked with them months prior and had even called to confirm and she tried to tell us we had cancelled it ourselves when it was not the case. They did reimburse us for that day because they had already rebooked the campsite we should have received to someone else. When we came back to spend a night the next weekend on our way home, they called 30 minutes before we were to arrive and told us they were moving our campsite again. After they had explicitly confirmed the last time we were there that we were to get the exact campsite location we originally had booked. We ended up going into the office to work this out and the woman handling the check in kept answering the phone despite us waiting to resolve this issue. We ended up canceling our reservation, asking for a refund and we will not be staying there for a second trip we had planned in February or ever again. Do not recommend. Also be prepared for very dusty roads and campsites that you will end up covered in.
Very friendly and helpful staff.. beautiful location.. very quiet and only minutes from downtown Savannah.. this is the BEST campground in the area!!!
Me and my family have been to Red Gate farms many times and each time felt as if we were at our home away from home . My toddlers were fascinated with the peacocks and of course the pool. The farm is large , lots of room for energetic children to run and play without the worry of disturbing other guests . If you want a family friendly stay , Red Gate Farms campground and RV resort is the place to stay ! Affordable , clean , and the staff feels more like family . Not really sure what to do after a pool day, Tyler showed us to the "clubhouse " where we found games and a comfy living room type set up perfect for unwinding after a day of feeding chickens , looking for fresh eggs, taking a trolly ride to downtown Savannah and swimming . Tyler got us all set up for a movie and some downtime . All the staff is friendly and so eager to help . My oldest child became enchanted with a wedding taking place across the water , it was an absolutely beautiful view . While walking the grounds another night we were invited by some other guests to smores around the campfire , another hit for my little ones. Definitely will visit again! Though I can't remember everyone's name "Tyler's" stands out due to his eagerness to make sure we had every thing needed to have a great experience!
Red Gate is such a beautiful place. We're leaving tomorrow and I am sad to go. Gorgeous scenery..especially waterfront where our site is located. We have to give another shout out to the maintenance man, Tyler Webster. Yesterday during a freak storm, our awning relocated itself to the roof of the camper. Today Tyler came to our rescue again and he and my husband were able to roll up the awning and safely secure the awning to the camper for our drive home tomorrow. Thank you once again,Tyler. You are an important asset to this park. We will return..and you'd better be here!! True southern hospitality..the Grays, Edgewater, FL.
Beautiful farm, pool was awesome, easy in and out. Would be a 5 star except for road noise, and actual campground is BEFORE you get to the actual farm so you can't actually see it from campground, rv campground it's just a basic open field lot surrounding a strange rectangular dirt mound in the middle of the camp property (not very appealing) Once you walk into the farm sectionit's pretty. We paid $50 (included veteran 10% discount), camped in a class A, pull through, full hookup.
Excellent park. Clean and well maintained with a friendly helpful staff. Was here 2 days in an rv and would have stayed longer if I'd made reservations. Definitely would stay again!
We had a great experience at Red Gate Campground. We had site B-1, which is by far the best site on the property (B-2 and B-3 are also excellent). Plenty of shade, near the office and restroom/shower facilities. We have a 26' travel trailer and had more than enough room on our site for the trailer, truck and another vehicle. The park was a bit outdated and too advanced for our children (20 months and nearly 4), but older children seemed to enjoy it. The pool is a saltwater pool, which was unexpected, but it was very clean. The bugs were bad -- gnats and flies, but that's Savannah in the summer for you. Not a thing the campground could do about that!
The campground is extremely close to historic Savannah and the owners and staff are just lovely. We will absolutely be returning!
Best thing: Very close to everything you want to see in. Savannah. Pretty setting.
Worst thing: Dirt and dust. Can't sit outside your rv because the road is white gravel (which has been ground into white dustlike talcum powder) and many of the spaces back up to this gravel road. Every time someone drives by, there is a white cloud. Combine this dust with the heavy dew and you have a real mess. It took 2 days when I got home to clean this off the slide out toppers and roof. This place isn't cheap but if they would do something about the road it would be a nice place.
If you can deal with the dirt and don't mind being cooped up inside of your camper the location is fantastic. I suggest the 2 day Old Town Trolley tours. It was fabulous. Great narrated tours. Can get on and off at any stop.
Spacious. It doesn't feel like a campground. A little short on bath houses.
This is a nice little spot where you are 5 minutes from town with a country feel and sooo relaxing can't wait to return to finish exploring downtown or just to relax.
Perfect for large RVs down to you basic tent camping. Nice showers, laundry, swimming pool, ponds, club house, etc. Nice long pads with plenty of room for all. Friendly helpful staff. Trolley tour picks up and drops off at the site. Convenient to the Historic District. The Fresh Market grocery was nearby which is a favorite of ours. Last nights fireworks at the camp were awesome!
One thing I can say for sure is that this is a very clean place. It was for sure not a resort type campground, but it served our purpose. The setting is a long standing family farm and many of the family still work there. The amenities are simple, but comfortable. The camp area for sure needs some "decorating", but like I said, it served our purpose. We have two dogs and my favorite part of staying there was exploring the property. If you have children, they will love walking around and seeing the animals. Would I stay here again, you bet I would.
