Went to Dr. Pouchot a few years ago, but I was recently reminded of my terrible experience there and decided I should share it. It's a long story, but I will highlight the main parts. Went to his office, they seemed nice enough, and Dr. Pouchot probably tried his best, but he gave my wife a filling and apparently didn't leave the surface even and she kept biting her inner cheek after that. We went back there and he denied that he did anything wrong, despite the obvious fact. He did try to fix it twice, but the problem persisted. Finally, we went to another dentist who looked at it for about 5 seconds, the spent another 2 minutes evening it out. After that it was just fine. Also, Dr. Pouchot told my wife that because she had two gaps (from teeth that were pulled years ago) the her back teeth were going to cave in and that she needed to put something in between them (can't remember the exact cost, but it was over $1000). The other dentist said that wasn't necessary and, years later, what Dr. Pouchot said would happen never did. Nice enough guy, just didn't hace the expertise. Maybe he's better now, I sure hope so.
I cracked a tooth and had some anxiety, but the staff was very friendly and comforting and explained everything. The whole staff is professional and take their job very serious. Definitely recommend Pouchot dentistry
Great people. Enjoy going to the dentist every time. Painless visits. Highly recommended!
My Name is Floyd Foster. Today I had my second visit with Pouchot Dentistry. The service is incredible! After my first cleaning I was so impressed by the entire set up. They are extremely organized and efficient. After my first appointment they called me several times to offer opportunities to have an earlier appointment for my fillings. Today I was speechless after having a pain free experience! This Dental Practice is like no other I've seen. They are a model of Christian character, values and ethics.
I have been a patient of Dr. Pouchot's for 5 years. He and the hygienist Charlene are the absolute best! You won't find better all-around quality care anywhere else. You are greeted with a warm, welcoming smile and that atmosphere radiates throughout the office. One of the things I love most is the up-front communication from everybody. The entire staff strives to make sure you completely understand everything. I highly recommend this great team!!
Pouchot Dentistry is the best dental office in Gloucester, VA. I am beyond impressed about how they have gone out of their way to make me feel like a human being instead of another numbered patient. I have had atleast 8 visits since I started seeing this office so I've had time to really see what they're about. The humor of the office staff and Dr. Pouchot is welcoming in every aspect. I am always made sure I am comfortable and I have never left this office unhappy. They are very good with communication and accommodation when needed. I have been a resident around this area for 20 years and have visited 5 different dentists within that time period, Dr. Pouchot and office is by far the best and highest quality that could be provided.
Highly recommend! Great staff and comfortable atmosphere. Dr. Pouchot is awesome!
Pouchot Dentistry is a Christian based, family oriented business, where Dr. Pouchot and his staff actually care about the patient and their needs. Dr. Pouchot is very honest and does not base your care on how much money he can make, it is based solely on your needs, and I think that is very hard to find these days. The office is very clean and friendly, I highly recommend you give them a try, you will not be disappointed.
My experience with Pouchot Dentistry was defintley the best dental visit I've ever had with any dentist and I'm so thankful to have Dr Pouchot as my dentist. The level of care, knowledge, and professionalism was extraordinary. I highly recommend Pouchot Dentistry!
Absolutely love Pouchot Denistry, from the wonderful receptionist, the assistant in the back office , all the staff and Dr himself! They made me feel very comfortable and were very understanding about my needs and my daughters needs. Highly recommend Pouchot Denistry to anyone looking for a great Denistry! They remembered things that happened in my personal life and asked how things were going at my following appointment!
This is a great place, has always tried to make everything as painless as possible and always does a great job!
My experience has been nothing less than exceptional with Dr Pouchot and his staff.
Appointments are always on time, usually get taken in early. Friendly services reminders, clean, pleasant waiting room, office.
I recommend Dr P to anyone without hesitation.

Based on my experience Dr. Pouchot is one of the best dentists around - in Gloucester or on the Peninsula. He provided the most thorough examination I have experienced with a clear explanation and diagnosis. I have always been treated with courtesy and respect by everyone there. I recently lost my dental insurance so have done a lot of 'pricing' of services. I found Pouchot Dentistry to be competitive and helpful which was great because I prefer to continue to go to Dr. Pouchot.
Best dentists we've ever had! Everyone is kind and courteous from front desk, to assistants to dentist and wife! They send us reminders about our appointments and birthday and Christmas cards. They've seen us at a moment's notice when my husband had severe tooth pain and didn't know the cause. They were very helpful and referred him to a specialist when they determined it was a major need that their office cover.
I've never seen such an immaculate office. They take the utmost care for hygiene. We have a good rapport with Dr. Pouchot who gets a good laugh out of my husband and I competing for good plaque scores and he is very encouraging and doesn't chide us when we haven't flossed enough! Thank you for the 5+ years of service to us and our extended family. We will miss you as we are moving to another state soon! God bless your business as you have been a blessing to us!
After moving across the country and settling in Gloucester, I looked for a dentist for my family. We started coming here about a year ago and everything was ok up until our last visit just a few weeks ago. My daughter was told that she had a cavity and became very upset at the thought of getting a shot in her gums. We had already been told that they do not have laughing gas or anything to help calm children that need work. Therefore, my wife went in after the appointment and asked the receptionist if they could recommend a pediatric dentist that we could take my daughter to. Dr Pouchot's wife was there and she proceed to tell my wife about how we should be taking better care of her teeth and how candy would cause cavities. The receptionist then began to tell her the work that my daughter has had done. As Dr Pouchot's wife handed my wife the card to another dentist she stated that if her 14 month old needed work that is where she would take him but "I brush my sons teeth and he even brushes his own teeth so we make sure he won't have that problem." My wife took this as a personal assault on her as she ensures the children brush at least twice daily. Cavities happen! Instead of her becoming upset and saying/causing a scene, she walked out. While we have never had any real issue with the doctor himself, we just could not believe the events that took place. Bottom line, office staff should be better trained before they find themselves in a lawsuit or maybe because they are in a small town they don't worry a lot things like that. Talking down on a patient, especially a child, is unacceptable and downright wrong. We will be looking for another dentist, one hopefully where the don't judge children and then make them feel bad if their teeth are not perfect. If you have young or small children, this is probably not the best choice. ----sorry for any misspelled words, wrote on iPhone
Dr.Pouchot has been my daughters dentist for the past few years because we live in Gloucester and there are not many to choose from. However she had her teeth cleaned a few months ago and a set of xrays done. That in itself was pricey, but in order to see the wisdom teeth that required another set of xrays which would have been another amount. During this time she had no dental insurance, my job offered dental and we took it. So the ins. was able to back date to a few days prior to add her to coverage. I had to call and ask about the refund I would get. Front desk says , yes you have a credit on your account. I asked for the refund instead of the credit. I was told it would be mailed, 2 weeks later no refund. Called today and was told it could be picked up by 1, I called to tell them my mom and my daughter would be in to get it for me. That won't work because my 16 year old is a child(also a patient) and my mom is not on any forms (but yet she is the one who takes her because I work in Williamsburg). I could see this if we were new patients, but we are not. I even asked if a consent form could be faxed to me, I would sign it and fax it back and my mom could sign her part in front of the office staff when she got there, the answer was no, they need the original.
Think it's time to find a new dentist. Even if I have to find one in Williamsburg I'm sure the customer service will be 10 times better then what we receive at this office.
So yes I am irritated.(1) I was never contacted and given the option to have my refund sit there as a credit or mailed to me. (2) I was told it would go out the next day and 2 weeks later its still sitting there. (3) My daughter who is their patient and my mom who takes my daughter , neither of them are allowed to pick up my refund. (4) This maybe my fault but I never knew the first set of exam xrays was not part of the "regular" xrays. The price just kept going up and up and up.
The bad thing about living in Gloucester is your limited on services. I do plan to go out of my way and find a dentist that is good and one that has great customer service.
