Not a bad course, but there are nicer ones close by that has better prices. The outside personnel are really nice, but some of the pro shop personnel are down right rude. It's seems like they feel you should be thankful they're allowing you to play there.

Not the greatest place to golf in the area. The course was fun to play although it was not very scenic, just a lot of straight fairways.

On our second visit we were greeted in the pro shop by a female employee smoking and ignoring us on the phone. I thought that was a bit strange to allow employees to smoke at work (unprofessional). The employee proceeded to tell us that the course was closed due to a league (which is understandable) but the way she went about saying it felt all wrong. She was rude, snotty and mean. We asked her if the league ended before dusk but again, she just told us there is a league playing and we can't play (in an even more condescending tone).

Needless to say, we went to a different golf course from then on. It worked out for the better though because we found some much nicer courses not too far away.

Old style course in decent shape. Pretty open. Gets busy so be prepared for a long round if tee times are pretty booked up.

We experience the same problem, week in and week out with the Port Charlotte Golf Course, namely excruciating slow play. Yesterday we were following a group that for some reason we have had the misfortune to follow numerous times before. Three riders and one walker. It wasn't long before the group in front of us was a whole hole behind the group in front of them which eventually stretched to 2 holes. Not only was the group immediately in front of us slow, the group in front of them was a full hole behind the group in front of them. We have spoken to the Rangers about the slow pace of play. Only to be advised that their hands are tied. The slow players are members and they are forbidden from speaking to them about their pace of play or anything else that would make for a more pleasurable pace of play for the paying public. We were only a twosome and one would have thought that a foursome playing at the pace of a death march would let a twosome through. That is until you take into account that Port Charlotte Members have absolutely no concern for anyone but themselves. To hell with the General Public.

The unfortunate part of this whole exercise is that Port Charlotte has a monopoly on play in the immediate area, price wise since the closure of the Sable Trace Golf Course.

We may play again at Port Charlotte but will also have to consider spending a little more and go to a golf facility that appreciates golfers other than their own spoiled shallow members.

I would never recommend the Port Charlotte Golf Course to anyone looking for to an enjoyable golf experience.

Great track, not in the best of shape but when they want to they can get the greens to be some of the best in the area. The staff is very nice and accommodating and the people that play here are friendly and most importantly, FUN!
