Great nature park. There is a nice pavilion with picknick tables. From the pavilion there are a couple of trails going throughout the swamp. If you like to see some ducks and gators this is the place to be.
Good place to bike walk and nature watch. Audubon field trips are held free here 8:00am to 1:00 pm on field trip days. See Augusta Aiken Audubon site for dates.
I found Phinizy Swamp to be extremely relaxing and enjoyable. The boardwalk through the swamp allowed us to get great views of the ecosystem that we would have otherwise missed. The grounds were meticulously maintained, as were the buildings I went into. Sadly we did not have much time so we only saw a small portion of the beauty this place has to offer. Highly recommended..
I took my Grandkids Looking for painted Rocks. We have never been to the Swamp before We thoroughly enjoyed The little Park an walking the wooden trail. They have restrooms as well .We must go back cause we didn't have enough time to really see what all it had to offer which was plenty. Its definitely a place I'd enjoy going just to get away by myself an relax.Hopefully we can bundle up with our gloves an hooded coats before it gets too cold..😊😎😍
Not sure where to begin. So much wildlife, such a beautiful park. I have seen turtles , alligators, and armadillos here. That’s just to name a few of the critters I’ve seen. A lot of walking space. It’s a research center, so there are a few buildings the general public can’t enter but they have a tour I have not been on but I bet they explain a lot of stuff on it. Anyway, any age person would enjoy this place and if it’s your first time remember to bring some comfortable hiking shoes.
Beautiful park. Only issue, getting around. Felt lost, could use more signs here or there
Usually quiet so you can hear nature. Has restroom facilities that are clean. I love to watch the herons.
Nice long, quiet trails. Great for getting some piece and quit but check out some wildlife at the same time. Has a small playground for kids too.
Very peaceful natural park. Love hiking their trails and seeing the wildlife. They have conference rooms and a small playground area for kids. Great place to teach students about wildlife, swamps and wetlands.
Great little hiking spot! Not a lot of shade through like half the trails, so just come prepared with sunscreen, water, sunglasses, and a hat. Good opportunities for pictures of plants and wildlife and there are good places for picnics! Also has seating spots for groups on a nature trip.
Be prepared to walk! Beautiful place. Gators turtles beautiful birds.
The turtles were so cool! We saw at least a dozen. Gina was very nice to talk with, we exchanged nature stories. The elevated boardwalk and covered viewing area were absolutely fantastic . we saw lots of dragonflies and butterflies and wasps and crayfish and minnows and damselflies. We truly enjoyed our time and look forward to our return.
From just walking to playing with the kids in the play area we love it hear. Doesnt matrer if we see a gator or not we have a blast. Love the Halloween camping night and the earth day event.
Good place to get out and walk. Dogs allowed on leashes and with own poop bags. Small playground and educational building.
Amazing place for hiking and wildlife viewing. There really is no other place like it in Georgia. The mix of habitat brings in an incredible variation of birds and other wildlife. One field trip had over 100 species of bird in a single day. Any time of year is good to go with weather being the only drawback. The trail systems are extensive, ranging from ~0.2 mi to > 3.0 mi. Great for running or biking. Whether you want a short walk or a lengthy hike, this is the place to go. Photography is popular at this locale as well with unique landscapes and breathtaking sunsets and sunrises. It's wheelchair accessible (mostly) and has accommodations such as water fountains, restrooms, benches, and information kiosks. On the campus there is a visitor center with awesome merchandise, a research lab, and an education building, where wildlife classes of all sorts are taught. The folks that work here are incredibly friendly and helpful too. Do not hesitate to visit this park and have a great time!
